winner Nicolas Gérassimopoulos:

ECULLY - The French Greek billiard player Nicolas Gérassimopoulos has won the national tournament level 71/2 with an excellent average. The first tournament of the season was played in Ecully. The winner, 56 years of age, player from Andernos, finished 50,58 on average after beating Jean-Francois Florent in the final, 200-73 in 6 innings (high run 129).

Nicolas Gérassimopoulos played one of his best tournaments ever in the balk-lines. The born Greek, close to Pelopennesos, moved to France when he was 27 and in love with a French girl. There he is a member of the Anderenos club for many years. Nicolas still plays national championships in Greece as well, was six times title winner in his country in the balk-line disciplines and three times in one cushion. Nicolas also won thirteen national tournaments in France, including seven in 71/2, his favorite discipline.

The highlight for the winner in the national tournament in Ecully this weekend was his match in the quarterfinals against Johann Petit, which he won 200-63 in 1 inning. Jean-François Florent played a flawless match against Cédric Zoppi, 200-0 in 1 inning.

In the semi-finals, Gérassimopoulos was the better of Xavier le Roy, 200-54 in 2 and Florent won against Goubard, 200-118 in 7 innings. In the final ranking, Nicolas Gérassimopoulos achieved an average of 50,58, second was Jean-François Florent with 26,65, Xavier Le Roy and Frédéric Goubard were third with 18,46 and 16,42.
