Jump and Masse

Back when I started shooting pool, 1966, Steve came into the pool hall, VITO'S, in West Carteret, New Jersey. I watched him set the cue ball by the side pocket, put two balls in the middle of the table just so the cue ball would not go between them, and place another ball by the opposite side pocket. He would then jump through the center balls and make that opposite ball in the side pocket. This was long before the creation of the jump cue so it does work with your regular playing cue. I practiced that for a long time. I also saw him put a ball by a side pocket and an object ball by the corner pocket. He set the cue ball by the other corner pocket. He would then masse' the ball around the side pocket ball in the corner. He would then put two balls, then three, etc., and masse' around them to make the corner ball. Thank you for the memories Mr. Mizerak!
