The Gandy experiment

I Bought this Gandy 9ft pool table nearby.
I'd never heard of the brand "Gandy" before and there's not much info on line about the company.

The table had particle chipboard for skirts and either side of the leg supports which were in poor condition.
It had a broken skirt at the front as well "see pic below"
I told the guys I wasn't interested in it and that it's too much work for what he was asking.
So for $100.00 I grabbed it.

I replaced the particle chipboard for marine ply on the legs and on the stretcher panel as well as using Polyurethane glue and industrial staples throughout.
The original stretcher panel was hollow and not very strong so I rebuilt it and strengthen it with full bracing from end to end.

I ended re-laminating the entire table except for the top rails. The new laminating made the table look like new.
Originally the laminating was only on the outside of the skirts so I laminated the skirts front back and at the bottom for extra protection.

I shimmed the pockets to 4 -1/2 inches as originally they were buckets.

I reinforced the chassis with triangular sections, and straighten everything out and painted it grey.

I did my own powder coating on the corner castings, feet, and skirt joints from a powder coating kit from Eastmans.

Turned out great.
A local pool hall heard about it and bought it from me.
I must add that these tables have a real retro look and are so good looking.
