NAPA 8-ball. I lost an 8-4 race 8-3.

I played well, he played well. Not much else to say about it.

I missed this thread! Took a few months off the boards, but I'm back! Not that anyone missed me. Haha. I just started playing pool a year ago in APA. I'm a 5, beat another 5 4-0 for a 3-0 win our team needed. Only one loss this session! So close to moving up to a 6! I can smell it!

You should be able to, as long as the .gif isn't over the maximum file size. I used to have an animated avatar on another vBulletin forum.

I am able to upload it on another forum and it works, but not on this one. I tried to upload it via both the browse option (saved to desktop but only uploads as a pic), as well as putting in a link but no dice. I uploaded to imgur and tried to copy and paste a few of those links but also no dice. Thoughts?

It's more than likely blocked. No fun...

Season Pre-mortem.

The Numbers have been updated for my APA 8 Ball team. We need 9 points to guarantee a 1st place finish. 8 points will guarantee at least a 1st place tie. Looks like one of my team mates will get top shooter. This is the second season in a row for my team for both first place and taking the top shooter prize ( I won it last season). Everyone played pretty well this season so no matter how next Monday goes it has been a good season.

Last season we won 60.4% of our available points and we finished 6 points in the lead 2% over 2nd place.

This season wasn't quite as meteoric as last season but if we can win 8 points on Monday we will have won 56.6% of our available points this season.

Regardless of how Monday goes my team played their best in some hard spots and deserves every bit of their success.

Tonight is 9 Ball… Wish me luck.

Great night last night in my Mega Bucks League. (I'm in 3 leagues, APA 8&9 Ball, Mega Bucks 8,9, &10 Ball, and a straight pool 14.1 league) Mega Bucks in NY has some pretty strong players, and since I'm a "3" I usually get a handicap. My personal goals in any handicap is to win in actual score. Well I show up and find out I'm playing the manager of the poolroom who's in the league. He's listed as a "6" but I think he's a "7", so I'm not too optimistic. He's also great with safeties and the few times I played him his strategy was to get me on 3 fouls. So in a race to 11 in 10 Ball I get 5 games on the wire plus the 9 Ball. (So I can win with the 9 and 10) It's all ball fouls and call shot call safety, both things I'm not to keen at. Well anyway I end up winning 11 to 5 which means I won in actual score 6-5. I do admit I won a couple of games by dropping the 9 Ball but it was still very satisfying.
Next week is 8 Ball and I checked the schedule and I'm playing a "7' in a race to nine. This opponent is really good and has been on live stream a couple of times. He even played Gail Robles in the Predator Cup. But after last night I'm psyched.

Won my 9-ball match tonight, 14-6. Beat an SL4 who has been a bit of a thorn in my side over the last couple years, so it was satisfying.

Nice... Sort of

I won my match was a 55-46 race. I won 55-24 16-4 win.

Sadly I only played 6 nine ball matches this season and I need 7 to end up on the top shooter list. I have 1 loss and the guy who is going to take top shooter has 2.

But what can you do I leave for Nationals on Wednesday and 9 ball is Thursday

On the bright side 8 ball is going well and I'm going to nationals. So what eves...

Almost got another shutout in TAP league Th night, was up 4-0 in a 5-3 race, but the guy won a game. I was making 1,2 and once 3 balls on the break but just could not get a break and run out of the breaks. Horrible table and ball that you could not draw but the only thing that really stopped me from a break and run was two misses in two games when I had the run mapped out and even had the position I needed. Just focused on too many things at once and missed the shot.

There is a thing called a Breakanator in TAP where you win the lag and then every game (so you get all the breaks). I had a few of those already in the league, and almost had one again but messed it up when I let the other guy in the game when I was on the hill.

On a sad note, the captain was playing a guy who had to win 2 games to his 4, he was up 2-0 guy wins a game and he's on the hill. Then it's hill hill after another win by us. And while shooting the 8 with a carom off another ball in the side, the super heavy cueball we were using bounded off a rail and across into a corner pocket. The loss was one thing, what got me was the other player was waving his arms out in victory like he earned the win. Poor sportmanship, and I let him know it, that dope needs to learn the difference between winning a set and having it handed to him due to a bad scratch and he has the gall to celebrate the scratch by his opponent.

Agreed. In my win last night, I got my winning point by crapping in the 9-ball. I just shook my head, shrugged my shoulders and shook my opponents hand.

I would have won eventually, I was far enough ahead in the match. And my opponent crapped in many more than I did in the match. Still, not the way I wanna win. I'll take it, I simply rather put the winning shot in the way its supposed to go

A win is a win, in my opinion. It doesn't sound like he was doing a backflip off the table or anything outrageous to draw a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty. There's nothing wrong with being happy that you won and there's nothing wrong with winning due to a scratch. It's part of the game. The person was racing to 2 which means he/she probably hasn't been playing pool for very long so they probably get even more excited when they win. Be happy for them, and congratulate them. It doesn't matter how they won...they won. Don't be curmudgeony. Shake their hand, congratulate them. They were obviously excited about the win and you took that away from them by being a poor loser. If there's any sportsmanship issue, it's very likely on your part for being being a poor loser.

That's my biggest complaint about league pool. No one can just shake the guy's hand and say good game. It's always something...bad rolls, unlucky...lucky...yadda yadda. Shake his hand, say good game and move on. I have no idea why that concept is impossible for most people. If you want to be a rabid *****, at least wait until you go home and complain to your dog or something.

Summer session continues to roll along nicely for me. I practiced my races with a few $20 5-3 races against some good players during the week, played some single-game cash games with a friend as well. I can't get into the race for the league points championship because I was busy with finishing out my teaching year and didn't play weeks 1-3, but after this week I wish I'd at least tried because I've been rolling along.

It is a NAPA 8-Ball league. This week I pulled off a 4-0 win. Lost the lag by about half an inch, so didn't get the rackless. But it was my third shutout in 7 weeks now, and moves me to 6-1. Still salty that I got overconfident and lost that one week 4-2 (in a 5-2 race). But this win was very gratifying. In the spring session I played this same guy and he beat me 4-3 in a 4-4 race. I was incredibly disappointed with the result, my play, etc. and attributed it to the fact that I was up by 5AM that morning and had had a long tiresome day. This time I came in fresh, hoped I'd get matched up with him, and as luck would have it - that's exactly what happened. I knew his speed, and knew I could run over him if I just made my simple cuts. It felt like one of my most complete wins yet. If I'd pulled out a break n run it really would have stood out. The only weak point was I couldn't get anything behind my breaks. My rear foot slipped on the slick floor the first time and I was afraid to put anything behind it after that.

Every miss was played carefully and calculated to hide him behind a cluster. I played a few very good safety shots in non-obvious situations. My favorite shot of the night: he has 3 balls left on the table. I have 1 ball left, first game. If I nail my shot I need absolutely perfect english and speed to bring it back to even get a cross table bank with the 8 almost locked on the side next to a side pocket. So I play a slow roll off my ball and toward the rail. It gives him two table-length sharp cut attempts, and his ball sitting on a corner is blocked by my 8. A better player runs me out but I knew his speed, and let him go for it. He misses, and the repositioning of the cue ball puts me in line to easily and comfortably roll it back for the cross table bank that I want. I nail that, and I'm off to the advantage and rolled from there. It was easily the closest game.

It was not me that was playing. The other guy was actually a 3 he was only going to 2 because the league drops handicaps down by 1. He was not celebrating a win, he was celebrating the other guy scratching which is different. It would be like someone being in 1st place in a car race, then they get wiped out by some other car and the guy in 2nd place starts dancing around the wreck going "nya nya nya I won! I'm so goood!". It would have been different had the guy just shook hands quitely and said "bad luck" or something. I never once considered myself a "winnner" in a game that was given to me. I just avoided losing due to the other player.

i have been absent due to computer problems but i am back now.:D

last tue i played my apa travel and won 4-0 in a 4-3 race.

played my double jeapordy last night.

lost both. :(

lost 37-31 to a 4 who was just moved down from a 5.

lost 8 ball to a 7... 5-2.

i shot good both matches...just not good enough lol.

on a side note. i commited what cue aficianodos on here would consider blasphemy last night.

i sold my high dollar custom....then bought a used moochie. i sold my custom for 300.00 more than i paid for it 2 years ago . i just got tired of being scared it was going to get damaged at league and i just did not believe it should sit at home in a closet. besides it really did not make me play any better.

i really did not need to buy the muecci but hey....old habits are hard to break .:D

Well, the APA 9-ball Summer session is over with. Playoffs start soon.

I was curious to see how bad everyone played this session, the #1 ranked player has 85% W/L ratio (new player on our team) and the #2 thru #10 has under 60%... That's pretty bad. Last session the top 5 players all had over 80%.
