The first time I saw Steve was the ads on TV, but in person it was Joe Burns Dayton Open in Dayton, Ohio in 1974. Steve had an action one-pocket game with a man in a wheel chair supposedly from Chicago, and they were playing for some serious cash back then. Those were the days when they played all night and the action was fast and furious. Shooters like Hall, Rempe, DiLiberto, Ambrose, Mataya, Sigel, Vickery, Boston Shorty, Joey Spaeth and his son Gary, who was very young at the time. If you could name them, they were there.
