"I'm playing the best pool of my life."
"I'm seeing the shot more clearly than ever."
No, they're not my words. In fact, it came to me as a surprise and out of the blue. It was Jamie Farrell (Louisiana's best pool player)who articulated those two quotes to me today.
I asked him how did he come to make this jump in skill since he has been a great player for 10 years or more and he said it was because of a chance meeting with Rodney Morris who is a friend of a friend. Jamie went on to tell me what Rodney had said and I was kind of stunned. I thought maybe someone put Jamie up to ribbing me or that Jamie himself had come up with a little joke, but as I listened to his story, I realized that this wasn't a joke at all.
Jamie regularly plays very tough matches primarily because he loves to play competitively and it is hard for him to get any easy games as everyone knows how well he plays and how hard he practices.
Anyway, he's telling me that Rodney Morris had told him of this aiming method where you move the eyes to a certain position and it allows you to align yourself so that it is easier to make the ball because you can see the shot the way that you should see the shot, perfectly. Now Jamie doesn't know a lot about the Internet and doesn't really do any posting to speak of. I don't think he can type very well. Lol Well, he might not be able to type well, but the guy played like burning hell before Rodney shared his secret with him. This is a recent experience by the way. Anyhow Rodney goes on to tell Jamie that this aiming technique is the biggest thing Rodney has learned since he learned how to draw his cue ball.
As Jamie is telling me the story and describing the aiming technique to me I realize that I know all about this aiming technique and remembered the guy who taught it to Rodney Morris. Rodney btw, said if he had learned this aiming technique before he played Efren in the big IPT tournament, he would have beaten Efren. Keep in mind that I am hearing ALL OF THIS FROM Jamie, who doesn't know that I know who taught this to Rodney Morris.
I was thinking about all of the naysayers and how they deserve to eat crow for the next seven years, considering they gave the originator of this aiming system s**t and almost drove this great pool player from our midst.
Sometimes a few people can have a debilitating effect on this forum because they are bold enough and brash enough and cold-hearted enough to try and censor what they don't agree with. Well the naysayers were WRONG about Gene Albrecht and Perfect Aim. The best pool player in Louisiana says Perfect Aim is AWESOME and one of the best pool players in the world (Rodney Morris) says Gene Albrecht's Perfect Aim is something that has been missing from his game and that Perfect Aim has cut his practice time in half. This is a lesson in humility for the naysayers and they should be ashamed of themselves. In fact, I think they owe Gene an apology and will look forward to hearing their "genuine" apology. :rotflmao1:
So I don't know how many of you have taken Gene up on his free telephone pool lesson but if you haven't already done so, you should.
However, if you are going to the Derby City Classic and competing, please wait until you get back from that tournament as I plan to be there myself and don't need the extra competition.
If you don't agree with someone about their aiming system or their method of sharing the information say so and then shut your trap.
It is nice to see a good guy like Gene get the credit he deserves from top players like Jamie and Rodney. Get well Gene and I hope in the near future to learn more about how you compete and how you can help me improve my game. Jamie Farell is a real pool enthusiast and while he and I have our differences from time to time, he is genuine and offered this testimony without him even knowing that I knew you. When I mentioned your name, he remembered that Rodney had told him that same name.
If you can help GREAT PLAYERS like Jamie and Rodney play better pool, we can only guess what you can do for bangers like me and others who struggle with their game.
Oh yeah, and by the way, Jamie won this weekend's pool tournament. I expect we'll continue to see him in the winner's circle wherever he goes.
GO GENE GO! SEE GENE GO!
GOOD LUCK GENE! Get well.
