I prefer your other avatars.

Good luck tonight.

Don't worry, I won't keep this one for too long lol.

I prefer his avatar that he had two changes ago!

I'm pulling for your 6 point break tonight, Matt! LOL

Oh boy now I got some mother #$^%$^ motivation to snap a big point break tonight. I will be pulling to play 9 ball now for sure and will post tomorrow my high point count if I get to play. GL tonight boys!

Like total shit since going up to a 7. Actually, not like total shit but I am struggling to win matches against guys I was skunking as a 6.
It has to be mental but I also notice everyone is amped up to kick my ass more than ever now...lol

Not sure if you're talking 8 or 9, but I had a similar problem when I went up to a 7 in 8. I began trying to play how I thought I should be playing at that level instead of playing the game that actually got me there. Yeah, you'll have a bigger target on your back and suddenly people will be bringing their game a bit more to beat you. Just play how you play and don't even think about the skill level - that'll get you back in no time.

I think you're spot on. It's 8 ball and yes, I think I am thinking too much about the bump and not enough about just playing the game.

Thanks, man. Appreciate the insight.

It was something like, "I'm a 7 now, I just run out. Look at that table, a 7 should be able to run it out." Then I'd proceed to screw up and lose matches. There was also an added factor that I was probably taking the game too seriously at the time and not allowing myself to have as much fun.

Congrats on the 7 and good luck!

LOL...sounds a little too familiar!

Thanks, man. Now just trying to live up to it. Easier said than done.

That just sounds like putting unneeded pressure on yourself as far as expectations of a 7. You know you can play so just play your normal game and the results will come. It is a confidence boost to reach the top. Before long you will forget about the extra game spot and destroy people like you did as a 6.

Well, I didn't hold up my end of the bargain....lost 38-35

I was up 31-19, and let it get away. To say I'm unhappy would be an understatement.

He got some pretty lucky rolls in his comeback, but I had some when I got some when I went out in front, too.

Sigh. That's how this session has gone for me in 9-ball. Almost over...

played napa league

1st let me say for some reason the last 3 wed's have been hell at work. 2 weeks ago i did not want to go to league after work cause i was so tired. my captain said he needed me cause he was short. i lost.

last wed was rough at work also. i called my captain and he said he had enough people so i stayed home.

yest was another bad day at work and we also did not get off till 7;00. league starts at 7;30. i call my captain and he said he needs me.

i get there at 8;00 and when i walk in the door he says you are up. damn let me at least order a drink ok ?

its a 4-4 race and as usual i lose the 1st rack. my captain comes up to me and says we need a win cause we lost all 5 last week .

he says if you need a time out lemme know. i tell him you know i always start slow. 1 rack aint gonna win or lose a match. next rack i am standing there contemplating a pattern and he comes up and asks if i need a time out. i say yea gimme one.

i win that rack. next rack i am contemplating again and he comes up again. i tell him ...you are worrying the shit outa me. he says ok we just need all the wins we can get. i say don't worry i got this match.i win 4-2.

later i am sitting there on my phone checking out az and my captain says i just threw our new player and they threw their best player. he says will you watch her and coach her while i do the same on this other match?

i say sure. i never met this girl before and she just joined the team last week when i was not there.

she is a 17 and her opponent is a 75 so its a 6-2race. oh yea this guy is undefeated and beat me 6-0 2 weeks ago.

i just observe the 1st rack and dont call any time outs. she dont shoot bad for what i would say is an apa 2. after she looses the 1st rack i tell her don't shoot too hard but just keep making the shots you are. i told her she made a couple great shots but hit one too hard causing the cue ball to scratch. she is like most loweer levels ...knock the shit outa the ball.

2nd rack i used both her time outs ...she won that rack. i kept using all her time outs and she stayed close every rack. she won the 6th rack and won the match 2-4.

her 1st win and her opponents 1st loss. my captain had been busy watching and coaching the other match.

upon learning that she had won he told me i must have done one helluva coaching job.

we won all 5 but that still did not get us out of last place.

my last post waspretty long so i made this one to mention i am quitting one of my apa divisions and joining an in house money league that plays on the same night.

a former team mate called me yester day and asked me to join his team . upon learningit is the same night that i play on my apa lo's teami told him i could not.

upon learning that this league pays out 4,000.00 for 1st place i said hell yea i will join.

that cuts me down to 1 apa team a week. 2 napa teams and now another money league.

i was playing in a money league a few months ago but quit because of all the sand bagging.

Thanks, man, agreed. I'll get there, just a little mental game right now.

Took me a couple of days to want to think about this past Wednesday. Played absolutely terrible pool. Brought my record to 0-4 when playing league nights on days that I get up at 4:00A on short sleep. I just don't have the feel at 8:30P on those days. On Wednesday my eye was there. I was absolutely seeing the cut angle, and the impact point. No doubt about it, I had it. But I'd say I was contacting the object ball at the spot I was seeing less than half of the time. It just wasn't pretty. We started warming up at 5 over at a buddy's house on his 9'/deep pocket table, and I could immediately tell the energy just wasn't right. My thin cuts were millimeters off and air-balling or just a hair thick, and my normal cuts were just barely rattling, both sides of the pocket. And it held all night.

Last week I took a guy 24 points above my rating and swept him on normal sleep (which brought my record against the races to 8-1 on normal sleep this spring), this week I played a guy with the same rating as me and was absolutely hammered 3-1 despite being given numerous openings throughout. I had a few shots that drew laughs from the other team and head shakes from my teammates. Disappointment to say the least.

So so so glad that I'm down to the home stretch. I'll be hammering out my lesson plans for the next three weeks this weekend since I've got some down time, no more short sleep on Tuesday night/Wednesday mornings for me this school year.
