I have read some people have problems with the uni-loc quick release(and lots of happy people as well). It seems they need to be installed perfectly. I have no experience with them, I was going to buy a lucasi the other day but decided to wait because I would prefer either the uni-loc radial or the 3/8 10 than the stock uni-loc quick release after reading some stuff here on AZ.

Get a nice used custom cue. You'll be happier longer and resale value won't be .20c on the dollar

I'll be interested in what the cuemakers say as this was posted in their forum.

My vote is to consider a custom first as you said. A "nice" used custom? Well...that's all relative. But certainly he can get a used custom Merry Widow in this range...or maybe a new one from a lesser known maker. Certainly there are numerous very cool options.

What would I like to see here? I would love to see the makers turn this guy on to some possibilities.

But he is shopping at Seyberts and by no means do I mean to trash on their products.

In the list he provides I would say the Joss, and Pechauer would be the leaders IMHO. Jacoby is great as well...but I don't like that cue...LOL!

Resale value? Some production cues beat some customs in resale value, but that's a whole other discussion. He's not shopping for a Gina, Tad, S, SouthWest or something of that nature....

This question is not an appropriate question for the Ask The Cuemaker forum. This thread would be a better fit for the Cue Reviews or Main Forum in my opinion.

By all means the Pechauer. I have that exact cue with the colors reversed. Or rather I had Pechauer add collars to the Pro-H. I sold all my cues except 4. This is one that I kept. No others are for sale!

Please read cueman's(Hightower) post.

This is exactly the kind of thread that has no place on this section.

IMHO - it should only be on the For Sale section.
