What was your best wood combination for best hitting cue you ever made (merry widow style cue)?

And to keep it under 19oz...

I need this info for my first custom cue :)

Not clear whether you plan to build or have built?

I have an opinion if you are starting to experiment.
I have not made enough cues to have an opinion if you are ordering a custom.

You might also state whether a "best hitting" cue means hard, soft, somewhere in between, or compared to???

I'm not a builder but don't most builders core their cues these days? If its cored i woudn't think the surrounding wood would make a lot of difference. I did have a cored cocobolo BCM(Mordt) mw cue that played stupidly good.
