Has to be a local bylaw. Had this discussion with our league office a couple weeks ago.
No male 2's in 8-ball. Yes, in 9-ball (no male 1's).
Our opponent had a male who was listed as a 2. I called, it was a mistake.
i have a 19 year old boy that just joined my team as a 4/3. he has never played pool in his life. after 3 weeks of straight losing....against 2's and 3's he is now a 2/1.
the thing is no males can play less than a 3/3 in higher level tournaments...such as tri cups and above.
that hurts a team if the player is really no better than a 2/1.
i am gonna go watch our 8 ball ltc finals in a lil while. gotta cheer for my friends team . he is facing the same team i faced last year in the finals and lost to. yea that team goes to vegas every year.
at least we knocked that same team out last year in 9 ball and we went to vegas. it was the 1st time in 5 years that team did not go to vegas in 9 ball from what i heard.
oh yea ...the captain of that team asked me to join his team.
i guess he was impressed with how i play. it would be a good opportunity for me if i wanted to go to vegas practically every year but i cannot abandon my team.
So whether you've been there to play in the NTC or even if you haven't. I know when the LTC's roll around we'll all do our best to qualify, but if you had to make a choice, which tournament would you rather go to play 8 Ball, or 9 Ball?

I would far prefer 8-ball. It suits my style much better than 9-ball.
Both my teams had a bye last week (a very odd scheduling coincidence) and tonight I played everyone but my 5's and my 2, so I sat out. I'll be playing the majority of our matches, so when I can field a competitive team without me and the other 5 on my team, I take advantage of it. I played 7-6-4-3-3 this week. We got 9 points before the bonus this week, we're good...)
It bugs me that I play 8-ball so much better than 9-ball. Probably because I find safeties far easier in 8-ball than 9-ball. To me. More to work on.

8B.
KK9's never played 8B till he met me & League. as of tonight - he is OUT, of 9B. hates the rankings & wasted time & rules, etc etc.
8B.
(he is not alone in this division - i think 9B is done here in three weeks)
oooh! i've got a bunch of questions for yáll after last night, cause we are now in the money! but 1st, i've got to tell yáll 2 things i heard:
- you know that guy who won the BarBox tourney in Reno last month, beating SVB? he lives HERE! and i mean, in our TOWN. i forgot his name. he works at some restaurant in High Point. i need to find him & get a game together w/ KK9.
- remember how Scott Lee was my alternate? and insisted that he be ranked a 10? well i talked w/ the LO last night about it (cause i was playing & needed my ranking backed-down to a 2), and he said: WE COULDN'T RANK HIM AS A 10, CAUSE THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A 10. RODNEY MORRIS IS RANKED A 9. SO WE RANKED HIM A 9.
PL <---- technically ranked as high as Rodney :happydance:
After losing my first two matches by a hair, I pulled it together and carried my weight for a win to help my team clinch a spot in the apa masters in Vegas. Finally I'll get a chance to meet some of you guys that will be there, instead of just reading about it for the last several years. One of our players couldn't be there, so this weak link got a little table time in. See ya'all there!
Now.. time to celebrate!
