Whether a person posts positively or negatively on these boards, I'm sure most of us would like nothing more than to see you gals succeed and be on top of the rankings. I must say that 99.9% of people who post a negative comment about any subject or person, do not "hate", and calling those people "haters" is a cop out. We get the same crap on the boards about aiming systems. When people post something in disagreement they are immediately labeled as "haters". I'd like to put a ban on that word but the democrats would never go for it.
Welcome and good luck.

Lol then dont play for fun in just a bra at a regional tour championship. Outside of that best of luck and keep on hitting them good. Everybody gets where they are going eventually. Cant waste time on so called haters if you got things to do.

Mikey, do you have a problem with bras? Ok then a no bra tournament then.

I think the offending thread went off course. When it shifted to your looks that wasnt right, you are a beautiful woman thats obvious.

What many male players challenged in the thread was the notion of a player being professional. The word is ill defined and overused. I think there are very few professional pool players in the US, not even 1/3 of those who say they are meet my criteria. People may call themselves whatever they choose. In this game results are all that matter.

Emily - Stated from one of the most positive, long time posters here and with all due respect:

It's an open forum. Do you seriously expect different? If the 5% mess with your head, then I'd suggest you re-look at reality. Idiots are born by the bushel (and many are attracted to AZ). Focus on the good people please. You have garnered FAR more goodwill here than bad. I have nothing but admiration for you, Borana and Jennifer - and 95% of the people here do as well IMO.

The pool world would be less without you. Keep your chin up. As a beautiful woman and pool player, you have different opportunities than us hunks. ;) I think ya'll have done well to get the exposure you have.

My 2 cents...

Emily, I doubt anyone hates you or discriminates against you.
I have had many good conversations with the top female players in the country, and if someone doesn't admire their ability, they're blind. What's not to admire about Joanne Mason-Parker or Julie Kelly? I could make a long list of good female players
Let me give you this thought. Pool can be an emotional game if you let it. If you can separate emotion from your pool game, you will excel and become a top performer. If not, it may become a hindrance. Take only your cue and winning attitude to the table.

Emily,

I agree with you. I think a lot has been said about more so you and Borana that was in very poor taste. To be honest, I have not seen you play, so I really have no idea how you play. I have seen Boran and Jennifer play. Both have made significant improvements to their game over the years, particularly Jennifer. You all three also share the fact that you are very good looking. I for one thought the photoshoot posted recently of you was smokin hot, and very flattering. Did it make me think more about pool? A tiny bit lol. However, it did what it was supposed to do, which is make me want to check out how you play the next time I see you.

Good luck with your career!

thank you for all the responses so far!

Thanks everyone for all the great responses, feedback, and advice regarding my post. I just wanted my opinion heard and to address the small % of people that I felt were being dispectful to myself and to my friends.

The three us definitely do not let these criticisms get to us and on the contrary use it to fuel our determination to succeed. I'm just not the type of person to stand silent when I want to say something. Those that know me know I speak my mind, for better or worse.

Thank you for the kind and encouraging words, you all have helped give me more insight on the situation and remind me that there are more supporters than critics!

If I've never met you before in person please introduce yourself if you see me at an event! Cheers!

Good for you Emily. You ladies are great for pool if it wasn't for the WPBA pool would be dead. If pool is ever going to get better it because of you ladies not the men. You know how to make your fans feel at home at the tournaments. I use to go to men tournaments and they could care less if you were there or not. The WPBA is great and I will support you ladies as long as I can.

Saw this post on your FB the other day. I agree on certain points that you made but you can't let these morons affect you. Im sure you felt pretty hurt but you can't let em get to you. A lot of people say hurtful things because they are jealous (whether they say it or not) and hate to see people doing what they love to do. Are you one of the top female players out there?? Maybe not right now but that's what you are striving for and to us true players and fans.... WE see that so remember that.

I remember when the Mosconi Cup was going on and people where ripping into Shuff and Dechaine. I really like Shuff and his positive thought process and overall attitude. If people knew Shuff personally then im sure the comments made about his being there would've have been very different. Not to mention that he earned his spot on the team and was living his dream. Aparrently some poeple had problems with that and was not supportive at all. In light of it all he told me that it doesnt matter what people say about you. You know you and you surround yourself with like minds and people that have the same goals and dreams as you.

Good on you for telling them to shove off but if you want any kind of advice you do what the other top players do... Stay off of here and don't bother wasting your time. Keep focused and screw em all. Good luck :wink2:

I've not had the pleasure of seeing you play. I for one appreciate and respect how much better the female players market yourselves than do the men. I've watched The Black Widow do her show a couple of times, the guys should sit up and take notice.

Best of luck in pool and your career.

First of all, you are a public figure, and this is a public forum. Try not to take criticism (constructive or otherwise) personally.

Here's an interesting proposal: go find me all the posts and threads "hating" on Allison, or Karen, or GYK. The point here is that you might call yourself a "great player," but you are not. You might become a great player, and I sincerely hope you do (I mean that), but right now, you are not playing at a pro speed. Sure, you can call yourself a professional player (by whatever convoluted logic that requires), but you are not playing at a pro speed.

You can call me a hater for pointing out the obvious, but delusional thinking and behavior will not benefit your game.

One afternoon I was practicing practicing straight pool break
Shots and some other drills this young lady comes in and starts playing on the table next to me. Now 14.1 is a cerebral game soft stroking little movement of the cue ball etc. as i paused to look over at the table next to me
Balls are being fired in left and right "good shot maker"
While looking over my next shot Chalking up a voice says want to play some straight pool? the young lady asks, My response sure.
Early in the match some safety play and I say you play well what do you Do? Ans.. I am on the pro tour.
One of the nicest people I have met charming, articulate, good sense of humor and dedicated to her sport.
The pool was no longer important her story was.
Her name Emily Duddy ----- Best of Luck E.

Does Jen Baretta and Borana Andoni know that you're posting on their behalf? I also didn't realize Jen Baretta was an amateur player and need someone to speak for her.

Emily Duddy's entire post was fantastically presumptuous. You won't find anyone serious who is questioning whether or not Baretta plays at pro speed. Recall that people did doubt her abilities when she first started playing on the tour, and perhaps for good reason. But in subsequent years she has let her game do the talking, and the doubters were convinced (they had no choice, given her apparent abilities).

No one said anyone about Jen Baretta because she came in second in her bracket and actually made it out of the round robin stages of the Amway Cup. That's a lot different than getting donutted twice and winning only 10 racks total, 3rd lowest total of the round robin stages, wouldn't you say?

I apologize for not being clear. We are in agreement. The presumptuous post I was referring to was Emily's opening statement, not yours.

Whats great?

Since a post that I stated about women and men players where women have a disadvantage playing men.

If you are great, then win the DCC (any event) or the all around. Then you wont have to tell people that you are great....;)

Jean Balukas was a great player. She competed in mens events and was a threat. IMO, nobody since has done that. The womens tour was terrible at that time, and frankly she had no competition in womens pool. She said the pressure was incredible because she was expected to win each event. (not likely, not favored, but freaking expected to win..., no man or woman is EXPECTED to win each event, not even Efren when he was at his peak)

I always cringed when Steve Tipton, announced at womens events that these were the best players in the world. What they really were, was the best women players in the world.

Step up and play and beat SVB playing even, now that would be great.

IMO, you protest too much. Women have made the men look like fools in marketing and getting on TV. Earl Strickland and his antics along with the infighting prohibit men from acheiving 1% of the success that women command.

I wish you the best of rolls.

Ken
