How often do most pros change cues?

Just asking out of curiosity. I know some are under contract, but even considering that, how often do they change/get a new cue?

An interesting anecdote that got me thinking about this was that I observed Ronnie Alcano at the us open 8 ball in July switch back and forth between playing cues sometimes even in the same game. He shot with one 58 inch cue and what looked to be a 68 inch cue and it had nothing to do with not being able to reach a shot. I thought that was quite unusual.

I would say most of them will change as little as possible, but off course there are exceptions.

It is not uncommon for a pro to switch to a new brand/sponsor but keep their old shaft.

I would say the pros are just like the people that are on this forum with a smaller sample size. Some find a cue they love and never deviate and others like to experiment and try different cues often.

Oops.

I’m surprised no one mentioned Efren, that guy always has
2 or 3 cues that he goes back and forth with in the same game.

Maybe that’s why Ronnie does too, that’s his hero.
