-Born 1953 in Detroit MI. Grew up in Grand Rapids MI.
-Right handed. Cue: Hunter Cue (formerly Balabushka)
-High run 225 done at Amsterdam Billiards
-Started playing at age 15
-Mentors: Earl Coburn, John Broucek, Terry Zaski.
-Biggest title wins: 1990 World 14.1 defeated Ray Martin twice including the finals and Steve Mizerak in the semi.
-Won the Kim Steel 14.1 Masters in 1994 defeated Jimmy Fusco, Ed Kelly (former World 14.1 winner) , Danny Diliberto (BCA Hall of Fame), Grady Mathews. and Danny Barouty(14.1 Hall of Fame) in the finals.
-Served as President of the MPBA (Men's Professional Billiards Association)
-Captain of the 1st USA Mosconi Cup and 2nd. Won both years.
-Hunter mentored & taught Hall of Famer Jeanette Lee "The Black Widow" & World 14.1 Champion John Schmidt for years

Bobby Hunter has always been one of my favorite players to sweat, beautiful stroke and solid fundamentals all the way. When yer the dark horse - and a horse is a horse of course of course, the parrty 'in crowd' will try and control who thinks should win (sharking, crooked ref's, and basically politics in general). In a perfect format feeling like 'I belong' to the rest of the group will do absolutely nothing to help me win. It is nice to have people on yer side and not pulling against you but a sense of belonging to a company, list of current players, or tournament - is more about approval from others an or $ than coasting in towards victory lane. The real truth is - winning consistently has to be about more than $ ie sponsors, fame, and or ego, if yer running hundreds - you belong there - whether they 'the in cramped in crowd' like it or not. Go right to the source and ask the horse - he'll give you the answer that you endorse. He's always on a steady course. adios.

I'd love to own one of his cues. Not a lot of 14.1 champions making pool cues.
