Pretty Strong. Looks like the money goes back to the players and the pool room. Well played. I can see this catching on in various forms....

Our league in Chicago area is similar, but the money goes to all the teams...not just the winner... but simlar results... great tables, no sandbagging, and great pool with 16 teams.... Good Luck....

one problem.....

.....i see with this concept is that once the bottom 2 or 3 teams see that they have no chance to make the final playoffs for the cheese, what incentive do they have to continue to play and thus keep adding to a prize fund for which they have no chance of sharing in?

Still wanna compete, still wanna play pool. The bottom teams NEVER drop from our league, cause they would NOT be welcomed back..... Plus, playing spoiler is kinda fun :)

Ed, you can't stop sandbaggers because people's real speeds don't always show up. People say I sand bag as they take my money. ha!

Perhaps you didn't read entirely. TWO RANDOM WILDCARDS will be drawn from the remaining 6 teams that don't earn the top 4 seeded positions for the cash. That's 2 out of 6 or a 1 in 3 chance to play for the CA$H.

Also, the team captain gets PAID at the end of the session so long as they don't drop out and all weekly dues are up to date.

Are you putting in a team that will travel from Ohio? LOL

Andrew,

I've been there myself bro. Since the captains are all getting paid to manage their teams, they are required to meet with me once a month and serve on the committee as we discuss rankings and any issues that arise. It is hard to sandbag in a pool room where people know how to clock speed, all the players see each other on a regular basis IN THE SAME LOCATION each week, and the panel of 10 captains and ONSITE League Operator all keep everyone in check.

Do you have YOUR team ready to compete sir? ;)

I live too far away, 40min drive with no traffic.

Just wondering, what's first place money? Not knocking your league, 10k is a lot to pay out, but winning team might get what, $4k? Divide that up by 4-5 people over the duration of the season (however long that is) and the money doesn't look nearly as tempting now. If it were singles, winner take all and like 4 weeks, id try it. The leagues in the city have similar payouts, more actually, but when you get 3rd place, you end up with $180 for 4 months of kicking ass.

Maybe you're payouts are different and I'm wrong. If so, please correct me as I'm not trying to knock it.

There is a huge pool population down there, you should have no issue filling up.

As stated in the flyer....

"Each league session division will be limited to just 10 teams to maintain the value of the $10,000.00 prize fund collected throughout the session as well as protect the integrity of fair opportunity for ANYONE to WIN! The top 4 teams will be seeded into the session end tournament as 2 wildcards will be selected to compete. This allows 6 out of the 10 participating teams a chance at the money collected! The 1st place prize of $5,000.00 will be awarded to the team that wins the session-end tournament, 2nd place will receive $3,000.00 and 3rd Place will be awarded $2,000.00. Now go get your team assembled, captain and win some cash!"

In addition to that, if you only play half the allotted time each week that amounts to $400.00 of table time alone! If you play the whole time allotted, obviously, that's $800.00 of pool time on a nice 9 foot Gold Crown table with Simonis 860HR Cloth with fluorescent lighting, more than ample space and all the proper environmental conditions to properly compete and play the game in.

Also, team captains get paid $300 - $400 EACH for managing a team that plays the session through win or lose! They can be gracious and split that with team members or award their MVP or the most dedicated player/ most improved player.

In short, you START $1,200.00 UP without ever winning a single match! Ummmmmmm can we say NO BRAINER? LOL

Any further questions will be answered at Wednesday Night's League Kickoff Meeting at 7pm.

If a 40 minute ride once a week is too much for you - perhaps it's not for you. No biggie. Many people travel 30 minutes in all directions 4-5 nights a week to play in bar leagues on one miniature table with random balls, oversized or magnetic cue ball on carpet cloth with a dangling beer lamp. No other table to practice on - just spend money at the bar or kitchen all night while you wait to play your 20-30 minute sandbagging match and go home. They play a county full of teams to practically break even or make $100-$200 IF they win the entire division. These dedicated people we often refer to as "bar bangers" or clueless novices actually commit each week and play their hearts out more than the average pool room player. They also do it for a fun social night out and in the pure spirit of competition. Take note.

This league is designed to attract dedicated lovers of pool of all levels all around the area into the proper environment and conditions to play in. They will automatically improve their game as they will now be exposed to higher caliber play and become more educated in the "players" and "professional" world of pool and help rejuvenate this struggling industry by filling up POOL rooms, POOL tours and even more POOL events as opposed to BARS and CASINOS only. They will learn the OFFICIAL rules to the games and not just make up their own "house rules" or "bar rules" or "APA rules" or "TAP rules" or "Tour rules" or get my point? Pool needs Standardization, Organization and Sophistication. S + O + S = Save Our Sport! ;)

We must reclaim the game and return it to its glory for ALL to benefit. Put "POOL" back into "Pool Leagues" NOT bars and alcohol. "My drinking team has a pool problem" should tell us something. It's only a joke but that is unfortunately what pool has mainly become here in the US. A side show circus to grabbing drinks at the bar.

When have the local bars collectively sponsored a professional pool tour, pro-am event or official amateur pool tournament? POOL makes $ for bars and casinos but they don't give back to pool. It's time that changes. YOUR money comes back to YOU. Into pool and back from pool.

Okay, I’m done for now. Aren't you glad you asked??? LOL Just a few extra points.

Absolutely! ANYONE can join. Please stop in sometime before the session starts up and play for a while and I'll be able to rate you. Nothing is written in stone. If my initial assessment is slightly off either way (higher or lower), an adjustment will be made.

I look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,
Ed Liddawi
