LOL that is misconception. Pool is not national sport in Taiwan. National sport is baseball and pool is behind many sports in popularity

In fact in Philippines the most popular sports are basketball and boxing which are more popular than pool

I doubt any country has pool as national sport or most popular sport :)

That is correct. Baseball and basketball are actually the most popular Taiwanese sports. Pool was doing really well in the late 90s to the mid 2000s, but its been declining since. On the professional level, Taiwan is still up there - probably not as strong as 10 years ago. However, on the recreational level, a lot of pool rooms have died down.

I grew up in Kaohsiung, where pool was growing the fastest in Taiwan. There was at least a pool room within 10-15 minute walking distance from each other. While it is still relatively popular, I'd say 70-80% of those rooms have shut down since.
