Could anyone get hold of Dennis Searing?

Nobody cares more about their customer getting a perfect and I mean perfect cue than Dennis Searing.

Couldn't agree more. By the way I saw your cue at the shop and man the end result is unreal. Enjoy that cue for years it will serve you well.

Hey Soldtonight,
If you are that close to Dennis, that you can go to his shop, would you please check on my cue and let me know what the status is. He has $2500 of mine and refuses to respond to my e-mails or phone calls. It has been years with no communication on his part. When he needed the money, he responded quickly but after he received it some how he seems to have lost my contact info. Funny how that works. From reading the posts here, I gather he was in a car accident. If this is true, I hope it wasn't the Lexus that I helped him buy with my $2500 toward the down payment after his Vette was broken into. (That would be too much like Karma for me to handle). I am not mad or that upset about his lack of communication I would just like to know the status.
I thank you very much for your help with this as I am sure my cue will serve me well for years.

Take care,
Glen

not too hard once a month to send a short text as to your status. how many possibly could he have lined up for work. if its too many to simply text, especially at least once if he has a personal reason he cant work for awhile, that means its more than he can ever finish and taking that many orders is dishonest.
and not returning peoples money that ask for it when you cant deliver is dishonest and possibly criminal as well.

Most cuemakers are just one or maybe one and one part timer shops. If they get just one order a week for a custom cue and take in a few repairs a week...do the math. It will take just 3 or 4 months to be completely buried. Also keep in mind that a lot of them have full-time jobs or spend hours a day at the local poolroom. Johnnyt

Wow yet another person Dennis Searing has not the decency to send a 20 second text message too. I'm sure theirs alot more that won't say anything cause their afraid it will take even longer to get their cue, or their afraid if enough people keep coming forward their investment will go down.

I've tried avoiding this thread. I'm wondering if the facts about Dennis's health over the last 2 years has been stated? I can't imagine that if people actually knew the truth that this thread would have gone as long and without grace as it has.

I know Dennis doesn't want any excuses made for him or for the world to know his personal life. I will say that we're lucky he's still around.

Absolutely. Dennis and the ones close to him have experienced something nobody would ever want to deal with. Thankfully he's back to the work he loves and is more passionate about than anybody could ever know. His family, friends, colleagues, and the industry are lucky indeed.

My random thoughts out loud.

So on the Ferrari forum, Ferrari Chat, there was a thread. Seems a guy had a rare Ferrari and given the rise in prices could not determine whether to keep or sell it. He bought the car second hand so he did not know the complete history of the car.

He, the OP, called Nikki Lauda to get the best builder to have the car repainted and some minor touch ups. Nikki said he would do it because it was his build originally and he sold it to the first owner, who sold it to the OP. Nikki gave an estimate, but said do not send any money because you never know. Additionally, Nikki said hold up sending the car because he could not get to it for a couple months.

The OP said he would not drive the car because of the way it was and wanted it sent anyway. So contrary to Nikki's wishes, he sent the car with the cash for the ESTIMATE. Shortly thereafter, Nikki had a work related accident, so serious that he could not work for almost a year. Now the car that he did not want sent is sitting in his garage instead of at the OP's, where he could have informed him to hold off sending due to his situation.

Nikki gets back do work and despite an overwhelming backlog, along with other builds, starts on the car. As soon as he gets the paint off he sees the car has not been maintained right. Niki knew the original owner did not properly take car of the car. So the Ferrari had issues that a guy like Niki cannot simply paint over. He embarks on a rebuild to make the car concourse ready to represent for which his name stands. This takes time and costs allot more but Niki feels he has to do it out of pride. Meawhile the OP knows Niki has the car and is working on it. However, he does not know the extent of the work because it is one of those things that you have to get into to know.

The OP gets impatient, (I supose), and started his complaining thread without all the details about his contact with Nikki. It was unclear if he knew the extent of the problems that existed with his car He did not know about the complete rebuild. Many guys took what he posted as "the Complete Story" and wanting to help, piled on in support of the OP.

Nikki is meticulous and his attention to detail creates slow, but precision work. Finally the OP got his rebuilt Ferrari back but he thanks the guys who piled on with posts for their help? I thought, really, like this helped? Further, I was suprised that the OP only casually thanked Niki without mentioning the car needed a total rebuild to be up to Nikki's concourse Ferrari standards. He did not even mention all this was done until prodded by several guys who had been to Nikki's garage and saw the work...and then still did not mention everything. It was as if he down played what had to be done. As a matter of fact, he never properly thanked or mentioned that he was only charged for the repaint and the minor work originally discussed, when in fact he got a total rebuild worth 10 times more!

Now the car is ready for concourse or track and I was shocked to find out he sold it quietly to a guy I know! Small world

I do not know what made me think of this.

Translation is that the person profited off of the work done without giving full credit to the work and craftsmanship that was put into it.

if you do everything that a thief or liar would do and not correct anyones impressions with the real truth when it would be simple to do. you cant expect everyone not to believe what they see or hear.

a few simple texts or phone calls can make a big difference. if you dont make them while refusing to refund their money you are acting like the person they imagine. and rightly so.

I see your point Phil but the difference is Nikki told him not to send the car or money, Dennis on the other hand took their cues and money, and wouldn't even return a simple
phone call.
Theirs a big difference an in my opinion theirs at least 7-10 other cue makers out their doing just as good work as Mr. Searing without all the hassle.

Better read my post again so you understand better. If you are old enough to remember "DRAGNET", like they said, "Only the names are changed". In theis case I am advantaged to know more than contained in this thread. Unfortunately, you are one of the guys who took the OP statements at face value. At least you totally discredited yourself with your closing statement.

All the best,
:)

I haven't discredited myself at all and I full stand behind my statement that their is other cue makers doing just as good of work as Dennis. You can go over to the cue gallery and look for your self.

Please name the 7-10 other cuemakers. I always like to learn stuff from the new cue collectors.
