The Monk Needs Your Help

Hopefully this will be a lesson to others. Don't count on giving pool lessons to get through life.

I saw his video somewhere online yesterday, so I also donated. I had bought a couple of his books in the past and actually learned a few key things.

I was surprised by the nice email that he sent me after my donation. It even included a draft 14.1 training regimen document that he is working on.

Pool is his life. And while it's obvious that there is no money in pool, I can't fault someone for trying to make a living doing what they love.

if he has little income he can qualify for medicaid and they will pay for it. if his problems are more than minor than all the donations wont make a difference in paying off the bill.

just a reminder for all to have medical insurance. if you choose to risk it the bad part can be a giant downside.

hope he does better and gets help.

Inversion.........

I would suggest he try an inversion table to help decompress the spine. Probably wont solve the problem, but may greatly help his situation.

good advice is much better than giving money most times. if it makes you feel good do it. and if it helps thats nice as well.

I have given PLENTY to sick pool players and even gave to this guy though i dont even like him and that aint the half of it-You don't know me or anything about me so dont give me your shit!

Only time I met him, I was at a tournament about 15 years ago. Playing in the Open 8b. So, we are half way through the tourney, and I'm feeling pretty good.

Next guy i'm playing looks kinda young, early 20s. But, I know that means nothing. But, we are getting ready so i ask him where he's from and he says Philly. We are in now playing in the burbs of Chicago.

So, i'm thinking why is a guy flying from Philly to play in a amateur tourney, yes, it's a big tourney, but still, folks that do that got to think they legit shot to win the whole thing.

Eh, still, who knows, maybe he's just a "junky" that likes to play... I mean, I've been to Vegas and DCC, so who knows. So, I brush it off, it doesn't mean he's a killer.

So, before we start, another guy shows up and sits at our table to watch. Man, he sure looks familiar. Wait, this guy is the Monk, and I know because I have his book at my house. So, I ask him what he's doing here. Oh, he's just here for moral support for his top student that he's grooming. I said, oh, who is he? He says I'm playing him.

Ok, the guy flies in from Philly and brings his own instructor. WTF ? Yeah, I lost, but I lived less than a mile away and brought my book back for the Monk to sign, that's the least he could do

So, yes, I will donate too !! Hope he gets better soon.
