Folks:

In choosing an oil finish for a cue, which would make the grain "pop" (for lack of a better term) the best?
  • Tung Oil (pure)
  • Teak Oil (pure)
  • Tung & Teak Oil blend (e.g. this product)
  • Danish Oil
Not necessarily looking for a gloss finish, but rather purely for visual grain enhancement reasons.

Thoughts?

I only have experience with one of the choices, but Watco Danish Oil does a nice job on bringing out figure/grain.
My 2 cents,

mix up some friction polish...............
....
1 part clear shellac
1 part denatured alcohol
1 part boiled linseed oil

spin it an put on about 3 coats......... squeeze each coat to get it hot with a folded paper towel. It needs friction to set up smooth....

This gives a nice warm shine .........

Kim, you guys get Denatured alcohol. We get Isopropyl alcohol. I used to get 90% but the last bottles were 70%.

Is there a percentage on the Denatured. What yours or anyone elses take on it.

Would the Isopropyl at 90% work?

Methyl-Hydrate is the same as denatured . We don't get denatured in Canada Methyl-Hydrate is the replacement for it here.
