I must admit I haven't read the rules to European Snooker, but I played 30-40 years in various US smalltowns, so I'm somewhat familiar with the game. I watch matches of the Euro league, and once in awhile I see something that's different so I wish to ask about a couple of things. 1) I watched a match where it was early in a frame, players were playing safe, but both the yellow and brown had been moved from the spots. Players pots a red and the pink, pink spot is covered by a red but the black is available, so the ref spots the pink on the black spot. As the run continues, he later pots the red on the pink spot and pots the black as well. Now the pink is on the black spot, so he spots the black on the pink. I have seen the game played both ways, (house rules) but it's always been consistent either everything spotted goes up table or down table. In the game above the black would go to the yellow. If that's the case how is the blue spotted in a similar situation, or the brown when yellow and green are open? 2) The second question has to do with game strategy, particularly near the end of the frame and opponent needs 2,3, or 4 snooker's to win. Of course he's trying to tie you up, but if he doesn't and you can see object ball, and you don't have an easy safe to play, why not slow roll object ball to corner pocket. I know my opponents aren't world class players, but it's harder for him to play safe or soon he's out of balls. My thoughts on the pros are.. if he has an easy pot, he will gain control of the cue ball, and with their ability, he will hide me on the next shot. But there's also the risk whereby the longer the game goes on, the better his chances to win. Either a lucky break for him or a bad roll for me, either way next thing you know, he's right back in the game....Just curious and Thanks
