Tom Coker made some of the best cues one could
ever hope to hit with.
Every bit of fire behind it as a SW imo.
Fraction of the cost.
I like the shaft taper. The wood quality is amazing.
The build is fantastic; with a great finish.
Mine hits very hard with a nice high tone sound
(Original Moori med tips), and has very little
squirt.
Even with full inside English shots, the
learning curve was minimal getting used to the cue.
They all hit very similar. Stiff and lively.
Only changing in tone, and duration of vibration,
due to differing woods used of course.
I honestly have yet to hit with any Coker I did not like.
Ned Morris makes a great playing cue as well.
As of recent, Eddie Cohen has been my favorite.
He's had the privilege of learning from very accomplished cue makers,
and created his own unique hybrid of distinctive playing cues.
Not only are they great looking,
but they perform 2nd to none.
His knowledge about matching different types of
wood for optimal playability is impressive.
With a Cohen, expect a very firm/stiff hit that seems to
send the cue ball exactly where you aim it.
Perfect taper. Lots of feedback. Plenty of authority.
You feel like it puts a steering wheel on the cue ball.
The steel joined cues aren't my favorite hit,
but I also have yet to hit with a Scruggs I didn't like either.
Tim, and those who worked with him, made some truly
amazing cues that do indeed stand the test of time.
