Tom Coker made some of the best cues one could
ever hope to hit with.
Every bit of fire behind it as a SW imo.
Fraction of the cost.
I like the shaft taper. The wood quality is amazing.
The build is fantastic; with a great finish.
Mine hits very hard with a nice high tone sound
(Original Moori med tips), and has very little
squirt.
Even with full inside English shots, the
learning curve was minimal getting used to the cue.
They all hit very similar. Stiff and lively.
Only changing in tone, and duration of vibration,
due to differing woods used of course.
I honestly have yet to hit with any Coker I did not like.

Ned Morris makes a great playing cue as well.

As of recent, Eddie Cohen has been my favorite.
He's had the privilege of learning from very accomplished cue makers,
and created his own unique hybrid of distinctive playing cues.
Not only are they great looking,
but they perform 2nd to none.
His knowledge about matching different types of
wood for optimal playability is impressive.
With a Cohen, expect a very firm/stiff hit that seems to
send the cue ball exactly where you aim it.
Perfect taper. Lots of feedback. Plenty of authority.
You feel like it puts a steering wheel on the cue ball.

The steel joined cues aren't my favorite hit,
but I also have yet to hit with a Scruggs I didn't like either.
Tim, and those who worked with him, made some truly
amazing cues that do indeed stand the test of time.

BD Cues. Will never try to buy another cue from him. Assures me it will be 4-5 months.....9 months later....says "give me 2 weeks". Still no cue. Not a great experience

I love my Tim Prince cue best cue I've ever played with. I've had Mezz, Peachauer, Shuller's, and a Mike Stacy. Now to be fair the Prince cue is the only one that is 60".

Nonsense. My four favorites are missing: Hercek, Barenbrugge, Rauenzahn and Tucker.

I went with Andy Gilbert to make my custom cue back in 2005 because of the feedback in these forums. Playability was top-notch, everything hand-done with no CNC, delivered plenty of cue for the price, and worked with the customer to create one-of-a-kind results. His cues normally had flat faced ivory joints, though I wanted a fancy playing cue that could withstand everyday use, so I opted for a piloted SS joint and delrin buttcap. 18 years later, I'm still using that cue. It is still the best and hardest hitting cue I've used to date, and still straight as an arrow. Images of the cue are in my sig. All inlays are the good stuff.

Gilbert does not use a CNC to do Inlays? He must use a pantograph machine then.
Are inlays done with CNC not as good as the ones done with another type machine?

Andy Gilbert did use a pantograph for my cue's inlay work. I did notice some minor variances in some of the inlay shapes, but this also increase the cue's uniqueness and collectability,

Modern CNC inlays produce better results than what was available back then -- earlier CNC machines tended to have rounded inlay points unless the cue maker manually sharpened them. Many of today's premier cue makers use CNC, and the results speak for themselves.

Joey Bautista cue and Zylr cue
I knew Zylr and shot some pool with him. His real job was Radiology Technician. He was passionate about cue building but didn't have the resources to build more than a simple mary widow. I asked if he could do inlay or points. He argued it wasn't necessary to shoot straight.

Rick, Dale, Ariel, and Kerry were some good times at Best Billiards.
