2012 BCAPL Men's Open - Location Map

Last year I decided to pull together a nice little map to show where all the players for the National BCAPL Championship are coming from. This year I decided to just pull together the largest division the OPEN Men's Division.

Only 23 from Alberta? I hope SML bought enough singles entries to handle the people who will want them but have not won trips yet...

That is a problem with the deadline of the singles entries for people here in Calgary, our playoffs for league take place in mid April, the singles entry deadline for the BCAPL takes place before people even know if they have won a trip yet and thus many of them are not sure if they are going as the winning of the trip is the deciding factor on their going to play in the BCAPL.

I have to wonder how many other areas in North America have this same issue and how many fewer entries into the open the BCAPL gets because the single entry deadline takes place before players win the trip and thus know they are going to Vegas for the event...

BCAPL singles

Well, that will all change in 2013.

We move the event o the RIO and to JUly 17-27, 2013.

I think that will be an improvement for everyone.

Remember, this is for the Men's 8B Open event only. I'm sure that there may be pending entries, but there are also only 7(or was it 6?) Alberta players entered for the filled Open 9B event.

I'm sure that this event will be larger, with the much cheaper prices in Vegas during the summer. Plus, with what was posted about the venue.. it oughta be pretty sweet.

The Rio could spot the Riviera the orange crush and beat it all day long. This switch is going to be a gigantic positive for the BCAPL.

The one issue that the Rio really needs to deal with is their access to the Strip. They are in bad need of a free monorail system much like the setup from Mandalay Bay to the Excaliber and it would benefit them greatly to build a monorail from the Rio to Ceasers Palace so that people staying at the Rio can access the strip easily and so that people on the Strip can in turn get to the Rio.

I love the Rio but it is one casino I have missed more then any other in Vegas on most of my trips because of the lack of ease to get to it and the huge PITA it is to walk to it just to access that single property.

The RIO has two free shuttles that bring you back and forth to the strip. One to Harrah's and back and the other to Bally's and back. Just like the monorail you described, but with a couple of stoplights. AND IT'S FREE!!!!!

There will be more from Alberta. SML sends in TBA's. They are paid spots with the names to be added when we know who is coming.

If someone wanted to provide me a data dump of the spreadsheet for each division I could easily create one of these maps for each division and provide you links to each to show on the playbca.com page.

Don't know about a datadump will have to find our what we can do from our IT Manager.

SML managed to sell out of the spots they bought before all of the teams knew if they had won a trip. I know of many people in Calgary (myself included) who wanted to get into the singles but now SML has no spots and the BCAPL deadline was already met long before our actual league finals (April, 22nd), is this still even possible now to get a spot because this is kind of depressing that you play all year long, play the playoffs, and by the time they have ended the singles is impossible to get into...
