The United States Snooker Association (USSA) has selected its Team USA to compete against Team Canada at the 2009 Can-Am Team Snooker Challenge, to be played at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from June 1-3.

All four members of Team USA will be making their debuts in this year's event, but it features some highly experienced players including two former United States National Snooker Champions.

Tom Kollins from Illinois is by far the most experienced snooker player in the United States, with no fewer than five National Championships under his belt, a Tour Event victory in the 2009 United States Snooker Association Tour, and numerous appearances representing the United States on the international snooker stage.

Ajeya Prabhakar from California was the United States National Snooker Champion back in 2000, and has traveled to countries such as China, Netherlands and Austria to represent the United States in IBSF World Snooker Championships.

California's Jeff Szafransky won Event 1 of the 2009 United States Snooker Association Tour back in January, and last year represented the United States in the IBSF World Snooker Championships in Austria.

Washington's Cheang Ciing Yoo is one of the up-and-coming young snooker players in the United States who was a quarterfinalist on his debut appearance in last year's United States National Snooker Championship.

This will be the fourth staging of this annual event in Las Vegas with Team Canada the twice and reigning champions, however Team USA will be battling hard to regain the trophy they won back in 2007.

The event is hosted by the American CueSports Alliance (ACS) alongside the 2009 ACS National Pool Championships, with the two snooker tables in use provided by Pacific Billiard Sports.

Looks like a great line up. U.S.A! U.S.A!
Let's beat those puck slapping maple suckers.

Hopefully George Lai and Jack Kung will be able to go next year.
