I just got into Minot, Nd yesterday. Gave 2 lessons at The Rack. Nice poolhall.

After giving those 2 lessons with and the players explaining to others how well Perfect Aim works, I have 10 lessons set up in the next 4 days.

3 today, 3 Wed, 3 thursday and 1 on Friday. I can only do 3 a day.

I have my camera with me and I'm going to try and interview each player before and after. I need to show the world that these Perfect Aim lessons are 99% successful.

Just trying to help players play better wherever I go.

Just one man that has it right and knows for sure it's right. In 3 years of teaching this my enthusiasm has never waivered.

My claim that Perfect Aim will cut your misses in half is an underestimate.

What a great little pool community here in Minot, ND. They really love their pool.

Gotto go have some fun. First lesson is at 3:15.

Have a great day. Geno.............

Hi Geno, How much do these Perfect Aim lessons cost?

Very affordable...........

Hi Geno, How much do these Perfect Aim lessons cost?

Hi there,

The lesson is $200 and the video comes with it. I do so many that i can keep the price down. The bang is pretty good for the buck. I also work on other things I see.

Racheal here has helped me alot by contacting alot of players here. I worked with her some extra tonight after getting done with 3 lessons. I'm pretty beat.

I corrected about 3 issues she had. Each time she could see the benefit right away with the change. The secret is being able to work on only what needs to be changed. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Look out for this gal in the future. She has alot of dedication and now some pretty strong knowledge. She already played real good. Like I said, look out for her.

By the time I leave minot here I'll have done about 15 to 20 lessons for sure.

Revolutionary

I took the lesson yesterday, after my girlfriend. I'll write a review in the "instructor" review area as soon as I can, but all I need to say is wow. This has revolutionized my game, my girlfriend's game, and my teammate's game. I have to apply it for a few nights to get the muscle memory right, but alas, my employer thinks I should work.

This is the closest thing to "instant pool game in a box" that I've seen and I'm recommending all my friends take the lesson.

I've never met Gene before this week, now I am a faithful "Perfect Aim" follower.

It opened my eyes and the look of understanding on my girlfriend's face is priceless. Thanks Gene.

I guess everyone you teach already has a perfect stroke. All I hear is how after you're done with them they never miss. Hard to do that without a perfect stroke!!!

Very impressive though!

A near mirror image of PocketPoint -- except that you can't get the letters themselves to be backwards as well. (You can try some Cyrillic characters, but I'm not sure you can get all of the flipped versions of the letters "t-n-i-o-P-t-e-k-c-o-P" out of the Cyrillic alphabet.)

You're not even trying to hide!

They still miss............

I guess everyone you teach already has a perfect stroke. All I hear is how after you're done with them they never miss. Hard to do that without a perfect stroke!!!

Very impressive though!

But they can actually see the shot. It looks good. It looks like it will go. Once the eyes are in the correct position you have a chance to make the shot. If they are not right the chances are slim.

Once you learn Perfect Aim the biggest problem in pool gets real clear, aimng, and you can see it with your own eyes.

I started out with 2 lessons here in Minot. After seeing what they learned and telling players how much it helped I had 19 lessons scheduled. Been doing 3 a day ever since. I'm pooped but having fun.

One young lady could absolutely not make a ball cutting to the left. She was right handed, left eye dominant so it appeared. Everyone here has tried to help her. Finally I figured out she was right eye dominant.

Once I figured out she was right eye dominant she started seeing an improvement. Pretty soon she was actually cutting the balls down the rail to the left consistently. To her I know it seemed like a miracle. When her husband came in and saw the results he was pretty impressed.

At one point she had tears in her eyes. I asked her if she was OK and she replied it was the smoke and her contact lenses. I had tears in my eyes about 5 times during the lesson myself. I don't wear contacts and there was nobody smoking that I could see.

This is why I do this. To help player improve the game they love.

I love to play and compete in turnaments. But these special moments kind of trump these tournys all to pieces.

Got to go for now. My first lesson today is at 1:00.

Have a great day Geno.......

Aiming Theory

I'm not in to these long aiming thread arguments, but I want to make a few points.

1. I disagree strongly with people that knock "aiming before stroke". Granted, a poor stroke may not pocket balls. But I've watched people that aim at the wrong spot on the cue ball and object ball. They think they see the correct line, but they can be up to 1/2 ball off. What's the purpose of learing stroke with steerage? I'd rather be shown the correct aim, and corrected on my stroke. With a few simple body position comments it should be easy to show someone how to deliver the cue towards the cue ball if they are perceiving the correct alignment. The stroke is a simple forward-backward motion. Correct aiming with mis-perceptions is much more difficult.

2. Gene pretty much teaches people how to line up so they see the shots correctly and how to see the same alignment that they see from above as when they are down on the shot. This gets people to the point that they can make the balls given a manufactured stroke. Finalizing the stroke and getting the muscle memory is easy if it is a simple stroke that doesn't require steering.

3. Your brain will let you think you are lining up right, but if it subconsciously knows you are not lined up right, it will steer your stroke, often enough so that you make the ball. I like to try aiming my object ball to hit another ball when practicing to minimize the tendancy to aim for pockets. Think about how much people subconsciously steer strokes for caroms or combos. If there is a ball next to the pocket that I want to carom off of, I really have to concentrate on not steering the shot clean to the pocket.

4. Many operations people do require coordinated aiming prior to functional implementation. Think about driving a car on the highway or alongside a semi-truck. You don't look at the stripes or the truck or make big sweeping steering changes, that could goof you up. When you golf, you can look at your feet, think they are aligned downrange straight, but your buddy can wonder why you are aiming to the right side of the fairway. You don't look from toe-toe-flag, you set yourself up, check your aim, and swing. How about darts? That is a pretty nebulous aiming system, but the good players know how to do it subconsciously, the bar hacks don't. Give 20 guys a circular saw and a board and have them cut the board the long way. A carpenter can freehand because he knows how to line the saw up with the cut line. A newbie would be lucky to start on the right line, much less be straight. Don't concentrate on the saw, look about a foot ahead of the saw. Your arm will follow.

5. Having seen aiming imperfections in action, if I watch an instructional DVD that doesn't address aiming perception instruction, I wonder why they are teaching the stroke. I think the aiming is the horse and the execution is the cart.

My $0.02. I have no interest in forcing someone to agree with me, so flame on if you wish. I am interested in other peoples opinions if they are clearly stated with thought, not anger or malice.

Things are winding down here in Minot, ND.

What a great little pool world here. Alot of talent and it's been so much fun her sharing Perfect Aim with everyone. The week started out with 2 lessons the same day I dropped JoeyA off at the Minot airport and turned into 21 all together. WOW. That's alot of lessons in one week.

2:eek:o this afternoon I'm going to The Rack to work with Mike, the owner. Also maybe his son.

At 6:00 I have a lesson with a young lady named Brenda.

Then Sunday I have a house call to work some more with a previous lesson and also show their 15 year old daughter. I started showng the kids for free when any parent takes a lesson. They are so fun to work with and catch on so fast.

Other than this I'll be at the Rack all day Sunday. Anyone that wants to can stop in for a tuneup or even a last day lesson.

As usual the Players here in Minot have made me feel right at home. I've made alot of friends that I will alway remember.

It's been a very Special week here in Minot.

Thank You eveyone. Geno.............

Felt kind of bad. Had to turn down a lesson today. I couldn't stay until tomorrow. But did do one before I left this morning.

I always feel kind of bad when I leave a town. Made many great friends.

Talked to Mike, the owner of The Rack in Minot, this morning and it looks like this great little poolhall might be closing soon. With the oil surge going on there the prices of everything is going up and up. Rent on housing and the rent on commercial buildings.

It's too bad when something like this messes up the local economy so much that there isn't some kind of help for the local people.

Mike is well liked by all the players. He's been there, I think he said, about 15 years.

Sure hope for Mike and all the Minot poolplayers that the poolhall survives somhow.

We all need great places to play.

Spending the night in Fargo tonight. Tomorrow I hope to meet up with Mike or Rory. Sounds like fun in the making.

Then it's off to the Black Bear casino in Carlton for another great tourny run by John Stitch with a bucketful of added money.

More fun.............

And now that I left Minot my phone works again. If anyone was trying to get ahold of me for a free phone lesson the window is open. 715-563-8712

Trying to document my travels.......

Geno are you selling classes or discussing the practice here?

Hi there Mr Wilson,

As you know I was almost killed about 6 months ago. Motorhome fell on me. At that time I started doing Free phone lessons.

Just recenly I started being about to play again after a long rehab. Lots of excersize and rest.

I went to Four Bears in New Town ND on an invite from Ray Hansen. Free room and got to room with JoeyA. Had a great time. Finally got playing good and could stand the pain at night from breaking the balls hard. Those broken ribs take a long time to heal.

While I was at Four Bears I had no internet and my phone wouldn't work there. A young man named Kevin Purdue told me his father,Mike had a pool hall in Minot. He wanted a lesson and it worked out kind of well because JoeyA needed a ride to the airport in Minot.

We only got about 4 hours sleep after the tourny so we were both pretty tired driving to Minot. After dropping off Joey I went to get a room. With the oil boom going on there it was not only hard to find a room but they were all over $100 per night.

I stopped at The Rack in Minot to see if I even could do a lesson for sure. There was a young lady, Raechel at the poolhall that told me she would call some of the players that had heard about me and wanted to learn what I teach.

Within minutes I had 8 lesson scheduled. I couldn't believe it. I did 2 that day as tired as I was and then I got a room.

I did 25 lessons all together. Some for free and some at discounts. I almost could not believe the response.

I brought my camera along to try and document what happens on the road. Try and show all the stuff that happens on the road trying to teach, play and just flat out try to survive and keep the bankroll above ground zero.

I don't know how a road player can survive on the road today.

I plan on taking a young man with me soon. Kind of like trying to build a champion and try to document with the camera the trouble there is on the road. The teachng is just part of being able to survive. Without it I don't think it would be possible.

I don't know if the response to my lessons will continue to be as good as it was in Minot but I hope so. At best being in road for a month is usually a break even deal when you add up the good, the bad and the ugly.
The good being pool. The bad an ugly being touble and expenses.

I'm an old road dog at heart. Spent probably 15 years of my life on the road playing pool if I shoved it all together.

If I can have some fun, do some good for pool and survive out here I will continue on. If not I guess it's done.

AZ is the best pool site in the world and I always tell everyone.

It really lets players know what's going on in the world of pool.

I'm just one man and a van on the road.

geno you should come to florida!

I've seen Gene in action in North Dakota even while he was playing in the tournament.

He is an inspiration to anyone who meets him. He is always giving away his knowledge to those who want to learn and occasionally he picks up a paying customer while he is on the road.

I think Gene does the pool world a favor by traveling all over pooldom giving pool lessons.

It's nice to hear where he is going next because those who are interested in getting a lesson can contact him when he is passing through.

I know he could get some lessons down here in Louisiana but we probably smoke too much for his taste. (Can't say as I can blame him for not wanting to be in smoky pool rooms.)

If Gene doesn't get back to playing some PERFECT POOL, he isn't going to win any more big tournaments. :D

I would like to hear more about the pool rooms that he travels too. Hopefully, he will continue to keep us informed about his travels and what he is up to.

Gene, if you read this post, what tournament are you going to next?

thanks,
JoeyA

Thank you for sharing your thoughts..........

wish i had the time and the freedom Geno, i would love to join you on this journey!!

Hi there Champ,

I know the feeling. Many of us old road players know that the road has changed alot. Years back I used to drive just 100 or 200 miles and get another game. Now someone just takes your picture with their phone and goes on the internet and knows exactly how you play. Want's a spot.

With me teaching and playing, survival on the road doesn't depend on getting a game and only booking winners. This will give me an opportunity to go places and play in tournaments. I just have to work my way there just like in the old days except I'm not tryng to beat people out of their money but helping them by teaching them how to improve their own game more than they ever imagine. And I really have something special to teach.

My trip to Minot was the first one that I took the camera. I'm trying to document what's going on and kind of make a short little reality movie about what goes on out here on the road.

One incident in Minot would have been kind of fun to have on camera. I'm washing clothes at the Dakota Inn and someone has theirs in the dryer yet. It's 2:00 AM. I set their clothes on the washing machine and put my clothes in the dryer. When I came back my clothes were on the washing machine still a little damp and 2 guys were standing there that hardly spoke English, Spanish I think, and the short stocky guy acted like he wanted to kick my ass. He went about 240 and looked pretty tough. As I went to leave this small space where the washer dryer was he stepped in the doorway. I had already told him that the dryer had stopped but he didn't seem to care. He looked like a guy that was just looking for a fight.

I'm in a space of about 3' by 6' with him, like I said, blocking the doorway.
I'm sizing up the situation and trying to figure out how this is going to turn out. It doesn't look good. The taller guy is younger, I'd say around 25, and looks like a good guy but you never know when the fists start flying.

Thoughts of my surgically repaired shoulder that still bites me from time to time and 4 broken ribs that need about 4 or 5 months to really feel normal agian, so the Doc says, are surfing though my mind. I was in Karate school for 6 years when I was younger but now I'm 59 years old.

The thought of even throwing a punch almosts hurts me let alone doing it.

I set my clothes basket down on the washer and square around to get ready for what I tought was going to be like the Alamo. I just stood there solidly and glared right straight into his eyes. We're about 4 feet apart right now. A bluff on my part knowing he has no idea about my banged up body.

It seemed like forever, the staring at each other, but was only about 15 seconds. By now I was ready to fight if that was going to happen. My heart was pumping and I was getting kind of angry inside. And for a split second during the stare I actually thought about rushing him. I really felt trapped in this little room.

Finally he moved to the side so I could go by. I was relieved but still need to squeeze by. There's not much room.

As I walked down the hall I turned around to make sure they hadn't changed their mind.

Who would have thought washing your clothes could be so dangerous.

But this is the ROAD. It can be fun and it can be treacherous. All your survival skills need to be honed to the max to handle situations that arise.

Minot is my first attempt with the camera. Got some great footage and dropped it off to be editted in Minneapolis on my way to the Black Bear Casino. It's all real. The way it is.

Got to go. I'm going to Mr Luckys right now to see if I can stir something up there. Maybe a lesson or you never know, maybe some action.

I'm takng the camera with me. Mr Luckys is pretty cool. I little slice of heaven for the pool players up here in Superior. It will be kind of fun sharing these poohalls with everyone.

See ya later. Need to go have some fun with The Road............

Does anyone realize how nice it is for Gene to share his experiences on the road with all of us stuck at home?

I had a chance to room with Gene while in North Dakota for a few days and he showed me a couple of his Taekwondo moves as well as the improvements he has made in teaching Perfect Aim. He's still got it, busted ribs and all. :D

Try washing clothes later in the morning when most of the thugs are tired from a hard night's skullduggery. ;)
