Help clarify 3/8-10 question for me

I have read a few post about 3/8-10 modified version pins but having trouble clarifying for my possible situation.

Play Cue- Bob Frey Fancy Sneaky Pete 11-1/2 years old. Looks like standard 3/8-10 how can I tell?

Break/Jump Cue- Bob Frey much older cue. Looks like standard 3/8-10 and same as playing cue.

My new playing shaft I bought this year from Mezz is a Hybrid Pro II 3/8-10. This shaft fits my Frey SP just fine. I wont put on my Frey JB it feels to tight. Does this mean they are not the same pins? They look same.

Also I plan to by a new cue soon, looking at sugartree with 3/8-10 modified. Would my mezz shaft fit this or other newer cues with a 3/8-10 modified?

I got no direct input for you, sorry...

What is happening pool-wise in Annapolis these days? Since bill& billies closed, I've heard about nothing.

Any pool rooms there now? I understand even Cambridge has closed...

Sugar Tree's 3/8 10 is different. It's larger at the bottom of the threads.

I quit playing for 10 years just getting back into pool now. Mostly just bars around here that I know of until you get towards glen burnie/baltimore.

Thanks that helps some, still curious if the current mezz 3/8-10 shaft fits any 3/8-10 modified pins out there. Would be nice to have it as a back up to switch out. Or why the 2 pins in pic look same but one is tight enough I wont try to force it.

I have had to run a 3/8-10 tap back through a few shafts over the years to get them to comfortably screw onto some modified bolts.

3/8 10 Question

A 3/8 10 modified pin is 3/8 10 but not as deep cut as a 3/8 10 standard pin. Standard 3/8 10 shafts (deeper cut) will fit on 3/8 10 modified pins. I don't think a 3/8 10 modified pin shaft will fit on a standard 3/8 10 pin however. I will verify this when I get home this evening.

Most 3/8 10 tap only need less .300 hole .
Modified 3/8 10 are some .303-.308" minor.
Sugar Tree has .312" minor.
I have no idea what Mezz is.
3/8 10 is one crazy bastard.

Sounds like I could easily have it tapped to fit a sugartree if needed and would not need to be pluged and tapped?

See Bob Dzuricky's website www.dzcues.com he is a great cue maker who explains the modified 3/8 10 pin on his site- just look on the left border on the home page and click on that topic. he will also respond to any questions- I own one of his cues- hard to find one that plays better IMO.

You will need to get the hole drilled a little bigger with a good 5/16 drill.
Once it's drilled to that, it might be loose with regular 3/8 10.
