And I don't see any glue / pressure relief channels in the locator barrel. That's what it looks like to me also, a 3/8x10 pin with locator barrel that came out of the butt. Perhaps they forgot to glue it in.

It looks to me like the pin was installed in the shaft on purpose, similar to a couple others that have been posted here. Tommy D.
I doubt it . The bottom threads have a smaller OD then the alignment barrel .
He'd have to bore the hole for the pilot then the alignment barrel.
That screw came off the forearm as mentioned. And I agree with that .
No, the pin was designed this way. Several 1950s makers used this.
There is typically a metal insert in the butt to receive this pin.
Cost cutting measure to jam a rod in there with threads partially on into a sloppy insert, is my theory. I've had several cues like this with at least 2 different manufacturer labels that I remember
Makes me wonder how that is cost cutting when you have to install a screw on every shaft .
A picture of the shaft's face should settle this .
These weren't sold with extra shafts, nothing custom about these. I'll find the photos of the ones I had. The metal insert in the butt is obvious.
