Looking for some Vegas help

I am buying a car to keep in Vegas and I'm looking for a place to store it. I'm wondering if there is anyone on here who lives in Vegas and has a place I can keep this car. I do not like driving over there anymore (300 miles each way) and the hassle and expense of dealing with a rental car if we fly over.

My wife and I really like visiting over there, seeing the shows, going downtown and to the poolrooms, and eating good food. We probably go over five or six times a year. I think it will be opening back up in the next month or two.

Are there any of those high rise retirement complexes that have acres of unused garages in LV?
If so, might look into that for inexpensive rent. But I have no idea how to initiate contact of the owners without a friend or relative.

Good luck.

This sounds like a bigger hassle than renting a car especially for only a handful of visits. I can't see how its easier to get an uber to a car that hasn't moved in a month or two, use it, and then have to uber back to the airport to go home. I rent 30 or so times a year (pre-covid) and it's simple and hassle free these days. You just pick the car you want and show them your drivers license when you get to the booth. Am I missing something?

Gotta agree with Z-Nole

If you just don’t like the bug rental car companies (I don’t)...I highly recommend Turo.

You can rent all different types of cars/trucks/suvs etc
Got a big group going, rent a luxury SUV
Just you and the wife, get an exotic sports car, or a slingshot for something very different.
Wanna try electric, several Tesla available as well.

You get a fully maintained car delivered to you at very reasonable prices.
I have nothing but good things to say about Turo.

Thanks all! Getting a rental in Vegas has become a hassle and they tack on more charges/extras than the original rental cost. A car advertised at $39 a day will end up costing you over $70 on your final bill with all the taxes etc.

I'm going to try Turo next time.

Never heard of Turo before- sounds interesting.

In terms of the original plan- I don’t know much about cars but I think it can be problematic to leave a car sitting around for weeks or months without driving it

Jay, if you don't have any luck, you can rent an outdoor parking space for around $80 per month at some of the storage places. From an economics standpoint, I bet if you add up Uber versus rental cars and actually owning a car (insurance, registration, parking, parking at the hotel/casino etc.) it would be the cheapest option.

$39.00 to $70.00 seem like a via it and shaft proposition. Have you looked for a public storeage place with a spot large enough to park in.

Curious if you have ever thought about riding public transit? I remember that there was a bus that took people from the airport to downtown Las Vegas.

In New Orleans, I have seen so many tourists riding the bus from the airport, to downtown New Orleans. It is fairly safe. Actually much safer then driving in a car, in my opinion. I have been riding public transit all of my life, and most people mind their own business, and do not bother you. It is not a bad way to get around. Only downfall is waiting on the busses, and the time it takes for the busses to get places.

Tourists in New Orleans will buy an all day bus pass for $4, or a week bus pass for around $25 I think.

Griff's to Mandalay Bay by car: 9 minutes (parking $15 at MB)
same by transit: 39 minutes including 22 minutes of walking:yikes:
same by Lyft: 12 minutes and $14 including tip

22 minutes of walking is not possible for some people at some times in Las Vegas.

I think the logical choice is to use Lyber all the time. It's about half the price of taxis in Las Vegas. The last time I used one from the airport I noticed that LAS made it as inconvenient as possible to get to the pickup spot.;)

some people do more than just go to the casino in vegas, and need a car.
give up your car for a few days and see how that works.

Or take your lady to dinner and a show on the bus and see how that works. :rotflmao1:
