Do You Carry When Playing Pool. - 08-06-2019, 04:22 PM

Last week there was the Gilroy, CA mass shooting at the annual Garlic Festival event.
This week there were two more mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, not Toledo (#45)

Waiting for Washington, D.C. to get it’s act together and do something about gun reform
legislation is assuredly a sure fire path to frustration and more shootings in the future.

So I have a question for any CCW holders who play pool. Do you carry when you play
pool? Which method do you use (IWB, OWB, ankle, paddle- small of the back, etc.)?
Do you have a favorite piece you wear for concealed carry while playing pool?
Does your pool hall have any restrictions prohibiting concealed carry? Does wearing
a gun affect your pool stance or maybe your stroke, depending on the method of carry?

Nowadays the thought of begging for one’s life while on your knees means squat and so
I hope no one ever experiences this or knows anyone that has. It is incomprehensible to
imagine and so the expression about dying on your feet instead of one’s knees is real.

To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a criminal shooting by any licensed
CCW holder in California. I’ve had my permit since the early 90’s and CCW holders I
know or have met are not aberrant minded, emotionally unstable or have temperament
issues. You can’t carry in a bar setting but you can carry in a Walmart Store in CA. If
there were a couple of dozen CCW holders in that Walmart store this past weekend
and CCW holders are trained to shoot with reasonable accuracy, well, who knows?

I believe that some lives could have been spared if the shooter was confronted with
deadly force. I know people will be posting that under pressure, CCW holders will
panic and more innocent people could get hurt from errant gunfire in a shootout.

Some CCW holders are ex-military and well seasoned with combat situations and
live fire conditions. Some people rush completely unarmed into dangerous situations
trying to help save lives. And I do not know what the cure is for these mass shootings.

What I know is when there are trustworthy, armed civilians in any building or store
I’m in, I feel better. And I always feel better when I carry which is most of the time.
After what occurred in Gilroy, Dayton & El Paso the past 2 weeks, I am wearing a
piece when I shoot pool. i prefer a IWB holster in the small of my back or on my hip.

I don't carry a firearm in the pool, shower, or nude beach/ocean.

I have a patent in for a under the armpit derringer holster that uses water-proof self adhering glue.
Got ya covered as soon as it gets approved. In the meantime, practice your ducking and tuck n’ roll.

Most pool players wouldn't qualify for a CC permit in California

Make sure you check your references before you buy on this site. Even a mod here engages in bad business!

I think just about everyone should be armed these days. No laws will fix the issue, only many widely publicized failures of these suicidal glory seekers will do the trick. They kill one or two people then get shot, hopefully to survive in a wheelchair.

All that said, I live in MD where it’s hard to get the permit so I don’t carry a gun anywhere. I do bring a nice knife when I’m playing...for what it’s worth. Sad to hear about another shooting.

Men, women and children in pool halls packing heat - now that's a recipe for bringing our game back into the mainstream.

It must be a sad existence to be so scared of daily life that you feel the need to carry a gun everywhere you go.

Yes - I carry when playing and most of the time.

Most of the time a Kimber Micro 9 because of the size and weight, if not a Colt 1911.

More apt to always carry the Kimber in summer. Small of back but not on the spine. OWB.

I don't drink - unless I intend to REALLY drink. And that's usually with Momma on a date night at Marriott. I can take her with my hands if needed.

I've been a CCW permit holder since 1995. I've never brought a firearm into a bar, pool hall, or anywhere else where alcohol is served and consumed. I respectfully advise you to do the same. Be safe out there.

Gun control supporters believe that RTC laws cause crime. However, since 1991, when violent crime hit an all-time high, 25 states have adopted RTC laws, the number of people with carry permits has risen to over 16 million, and the nationís violent crime rate has decreased to one of the lowest points in recent history.

Tennessee's Guns in Bars law. It allows those with a concealed weapons carry permit to pack heat inside bars and restaurants, as long as they aren't drinking.

In Colorado you can carry in a bar and you can consume alcohol. However, it is a crime to be in possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

Since there is no public intoxication law in CO, there is no BAC for being intoxicated. Best not to breach the peace, harass someone or do something that endangers the lives or safety of yourself or others. The rule of thumb for consuming alcohol while carrying (not hard law) is the same BAC for DUI.

To answer the OP's questions, let's just leave it at concealed means concealed.

My wife has the Kimber micro 380 as a backup gun and a Mod2 subcompact 9mm. She carries both when she goes out. In the summer I carry the XDS subcompact 45 and winter carry the Mod2 subcompact also in 45ACP. I got a bunch of others along with my wife, but that's mainly what we carry.

I've never carried while shooting pool. I tried it out at home, but it was never comfortable for me.
