I think that he's around a 580 Fargo Rating. But occasionally he can catch a gear and play very well and beat guys over a 600 rating for a set or two. I think that this has given him false confidence that if he just bears down, he can win. He's also the type of guy that would never ask for a spot. So like other's have said, he's probably a good player and gambler's dream opponent.

Pool should be fun. I prefer to play with people who can actually pay. Right now there are two guys who owe me money from gambling at pool. One I know will never pay me, the other probably will eventually.

I won't play with either of them, regardless if they pay me or not. If I lose I pay, though I did have a issue a few months ago where the atm wouldn't let me get cash. The guy I was playing knew that was the case, and I just sent it to him by paypal.

First time this has happened to you? Some people just hate to lose. I bet he had no problem taking your money. If it bothers you, don't play him again or at least let some time pass before playing him again.

I have met a few guys like this before. They were more addicted to action than pool. Pool was just another means of gambling for them. I am the opposite. Action is a means for me to play with more pressure at times. I will always be more addicted to pool than the action.

That being said, if this was the only guy in the room I could play a cheap set with, I'd play him every time, as long as he posted. I don't like having to deal with people who air me.

If he was really hard on cash, I might tell him to pay me when he gets his next check.

Just to clarify my "guilt" comment. I don't feel bad taking his money at all. And I wasn't worried that he wouldn't at least eventually pay me. I felt a little guilty when the guy had to go to the ATM twice for the last two $50 sets, and he apparently cleaned out the last $50 that he has to his name.

I don't think that I ever go to the ATM machine and take out less that $200, due to the $2.50 fee that they charge. So after his first visit to the ATM, I just assumed that if he owed me $50, that he would have AT LEAST taken out $100, so he had some money in his wallet. Nope. I'm guessing that he only took out $50 the first time because he only had $50 left and he didn't want to spend every last dime that he had.

It just felt weird to me that someone would gamble every last dime that they have in their bank account is all. I have no idea of his financial obligations or his bills, but I'm guessing that he'll now be needing to borrow money from someone else before the end of the month or until his next check.

On a side note. After beating him 9-3 and 9-3, when playing on his last dime, he did manage to get to 8-8 until he dogged the ball before the 9 ball. So his theory of being able to dig down deep and beat me at least one set, wasn't that far off. He only fell a little bit short.

Oh, and to address whether he likes gambling or pool more. I do play the slot machines occasionally, even though I know that they are a losing proposition. Well, although I have seen this guy play the slots a little bit, I can guarantee you that he likes to gamble on pool WAY more then just gambling in any other way.

I even mentioned to him that night that I had played dice the other day for money, and he was surprised that I would rather do that than play pool for money. I told him that it wasn't me that suggested dice, but the other guy after I had beat him 4 games in a row. So this guy definitely loves playing pool for money more than he likes gambling at any other thing.

It's the first time someone spent every last dime that they had to pay to me, yes.

I know that it wouldn't bother many people. It kind-of feels like to me when people say that it's someone's right to commit suicide and they have no problem with it. But this felt like he committed suicide by jumping in front of my car to do it. LOL

In that scenario I doubt I'd take the money but if a guy is that addicted to gambling somebody will take his money so I don't really feel much sympathy.

Because before the last $50, he told me that he was totally broke. If you think that he has $3000 under an urn at home, you're living in fantasy land. A huge percentage of the USA population lives paycheck to paycheck, he is one of them.

I even commented on the circumstantial evidence. Who goes to the ATM and only takes out the $50 that he owes, leaving nothing in his wallet? Makes zero sense. That was it. He's busted until his next check.

Only once in my playing career did I play with no money on me. I went to the room with the notion to win just what I needed at the time. I won, if I had lost I'd have owed it but anyone who knew me knew I was good for it. I've known guys who literally lost the rent money and they were not always good for it if they didn't have it on them.

I thought ATM's gave out money in variables of $20. Did it give him 2 $20's and a $10 or a $50 bill?
