Happy New Year everyone.

I've seen a couple of threads talking about this this lately. Not wanting to hijack the threads so here I go.

I'm doing mainly carom tables with super heavy slates. Right now I'm utilizing my current tools from construction business and granite fabrication.

+ I have these from Omni Cubed Tools (photos below):
- Pro Cart AT2
- Mega-jaw & Aqua-jaw carrying handles
+ From Home Depot:
- 6 feet wide scaffold
+ From Excalibur Tools & Equipment:
- 2 ton engine hoist
+ Plan to buy/make:
- truck mount base for the engine hoist
- hoist from Harbor Freight

But when loading, unloading, and putting slates on table from cart, we still have to use 4 strong guys for these 700 lbs slates.

I watched some Youtube video clips of various companies installing Gabriel tables and saw that they're using a modifying aluminum scaffold with hoist to carry the slates in and set them on table.

This is what I'm planning to use for my next gig at a local pool hall (installing 2 new tables, remove & haul away 2 old tables, move 1 table to a new location):
- Use Excalibur engine hoist to load slates from storage onto truck
- Build a truck mount crane base (and use existing top portion of my Excalibur engine hoist) to unload the slates from truck down to ground.
- Using my existing scaffold for now; couple with the new hoist to pick up & carry slates in, and set them on tables.
- Of course the reverse procedure will be used for removing old tables out to truck.

Does anyone have a similar/better setup to share please?

Thanks

Here’s my version of this cart.

First version to get ready for install today. I’ll have it cleaned, painted, & install correct washers/nuts/stop bolts etc.

Here are some details:

- The carrying beam is made up of: 2 schedule 40 1 1/4”; 1/4” metal plates at center coupled by 1/2” bolts and hook; 1/4” aluminum angles I have lying around (computer rack base)
- scaffold from HD or similar (Husky or other brand). I use 2 sets of braces
- 1T electric hoist from Harbor Freight

Things to do/upgrade:
- paint
- finish up nuts and bolts
- upgrade bigger wheels

I checked out aluminum scaffolds but the round pipe is too thin to my liking. If I can find scrap aluminum pipes at reasonable price, maybe I’ll make a dedicated cart just for this purpose. It’ll probably be 2” schedule 40 aluminum pipe with at least 6-8” wheels. Maybe 2 sets of wheels: one all-terrain set, one non-marring set. Will see about it though. :)

But so far, I really like it.

I’ll post some photos later when I use for installation.

Feedback is welcome.

Thanks.

Here’s a snap shot of my first installation with it. Very impressive.

However, as of now, I don’t have any good solution to load and unload the slates for my flat bed truck yet.

I’d like to be able to do an install with a team of 2. But currently, 4 guys still have a very tough time loading these slates onto the flatbed and back down.

A truck mount crane would be cool.

How everyone is doing it now? Again I’m talking about 50-60mm thick 10’ carom table slates.

Thanks

I only just copied the idea from those guys installing Gabriel’s tables in France.

Here’s the snap shot from their YouTube video, just in case you guys are lazy to click on the link.

I love it so much - super easy for us to install the slates now.

I’m still doing research for ways to load and unload slates for a flatbed truck.

That is cool - modifying a baker scaffold to set big slates!
Don't even need one (not a table guy) but i love it.
