No doubt a Spain blank, as Tim said. Not only that, but the butt sleeve motif will often give you a good idea of whether it is a Spain period or Gus. This is Spain.

All the best,
WW

WW, what's the period for Davis?

WW, what's the period for Davis?

I can only account for what I've seen, and there may be a bit of overlap. It was definitely after the Brunswick and Burton Spain periods, and my estimation is that George had blanks from Davis in the early to mid 70s of his production. There were Gus S. blanks in that period as well.

All the best,

I keep coming back looking at this beauty. Is the wrap leather?

Yes, very rare for George.

Really? I've seen a few over the years, Balabushkas with a leather wrap were known to be very well executed...I know the vast majority were Cortland, but the first Balabushka I ever saw had the first leather wrap I ever saw...but I admit that's anecdotal, not proof.
