I hear what you're saying but had a student last year send me a video. Every stroke was so awkward and wrong. He was trying to finish to his chest on every stroke. Once we dropped that move, the balls dropped too.
If I'm all the way to my chest I have an extended follow through but I tend to stand up high at the table rather than scrape the cue with my chin...
