Ordinarily I wouldn't get involved with such a personal question, but sometimes things get overlooked that may help others in a different aspect of the game.....
And I have to say that I started reevaluating my break after watching these videos.
Some of them will leave you dumbfounded, some may make you jealous, and some of them may just be the most amazing things ever put on film. You decide which is which.....
Maybe they will help out your game in your quest for excellence.
Or not.

If someone rreally wants to learn how to break, look no farther than Donny Mills. 82 out of 83 successful breaks has to be some kind of record.

IMO, Neil, that is an example of highly skilled *racking*.

I think I have a really good break when I get a hold of it. (Most of the time) I personally think it is derived from my golf swing. I come back and let my hips rip though the shot. I get comments all the time on how powerful it is. I often wonder if my ball position is correct though. I use my hand to kind of trap the cue against the rail. My thumb ends up on the back end of the table giving me something to hang on to per say. (I have a pretty big hand) I usually start slightly off centered staggering to the right. I made 5 balls off the break the other day with this method, so I'd say most of the time it works well. With the people I play with I'm not as concerned with making a ball in, I just want to spread them around so I have somewhat open shots.

I'll work on taking a video and I'll post it up and maybe you guys can analyze it.

my break is terrible. Great spread but nothing drops. Even after watching racking secrets I don't get the wing ball much.

What really makes me envy these guys is how they squat whitey. Ralf especially is sick with that. Wu chia keeps cue ball movement down quite a bit though not always in those videos. Jeff De Luna too.

I thought I had a pretty good consistent break down, but after watching some of the videos posted, I think I'm going to make a few adjustments.... ;)
Consistency...that's the key!

Thanks for the other links posted up today, we may be onto something here....

Played 10ball today with my friend Craig (named deep here on AZ). He made 6 balls on the break...

Nice vids.

I have been trying to work on my break.(breaking softer) Seems when I stop the CB center table something hits it and it goes where ever.

If I lighten my break I am scratching in the side or I am not making any balls. If I use my normal break I make a ball or two or three almost ever time and hardly ever scratch. Link to one break below I guess I should set the camera up and take more vids...

I made 5 balls on the break during and didn't have a clean shot at the 1 ball. Now that sucked.
