Alex Kazakis has won more than a few fans in America. He is appreciated for his fine play, good sportsmanship, and unswerving professionalism. He is gracious in both victory and defeat and has great respect for his fellow pros.

you beat me to it, Stu.

I've been enjoying watching Kazakabooboo (how strong is that nickname? ) playing around the NYC metro area for a few years now. He is a grinder and a sharpshooter and above all else, a real gentleman. After a tough MC loss for Team Europe, with tears in his eyes he said he wanted to get better for when he comes back. How can you not like this guy?

No shame at all taking 2nd at Turning Stone.

Congrats to Shane and Alex for a great event.

And thank you, Stu, for yet another terrific report.

best,
brian kc

A shot that always interests me is how a player gets shape when a ball is sitting in the jaws of the pocket. It's a shot that comes up sometimes on a table with tight pockets and some players always get shape - others not so much.

Can't afford to throw away games when you get to the final stages of a tournament with world class players.

Agreed that this was a big moment. Nice carom by SVB, too --- no bargain from eight feet away.

It was at this point in the SVB/Sossei match that I think Jeremy may have made a bad decision.

The runout didn't look very hard but Jeremy decided to go for the quick win and it cost him dearly.

Think I'm OK with the decision to play the carom here, Brian. Even if he cut in the five, he might not clear the eight and if he doesn't, he'll likely be in a bad spot. Even if he does clear it, it's tough to make shape on the six. He could have done a better job in placement of the five ball, so he might not have sold out on a missed carom.
