Just a reminder to any players who are planning to come out to Vegas in May for the World Pool Masters and U.S. Open Ten Ball. This event is the following weekend and should be a good one. Probably a top prize of five or six thousand! Many inexpensive motels in the area and Hollywood Billiards has great food!

Jay, are any of the big dogs coming back to LA after Vegas to play?

Do you consider Archer a big dog? He is on the list to come. So are many other top players. Doors open at 10 AM on Saturday, May 29. We will do the players meeting and draw at 10:30 AM. The first matches will start at Noon.

Not too late to sign up. We will be taking entries on Friday night and Saturday morning. There are many inexpensive motels in the area. Should be a good event to cap a busy month of pool on the West Coast!

Jay,

What cue ball and what rules? Cue ball fouls only? Jump cues? Player can make opponent shoot again on pocketing an uncalled ball?

On the Seminole web site, they say only two jumps per match.

Tate,

You may only use the short cue twice. Jay will have to answer the rest of those questions.

Ernesto is recovering the tables this week. Same cloth as before, dark blue I believe. Cue Ball fouls only, but if two balls are moved or the outcome of the shot is affected, it's a foul. Red Circle cue ball, the one that comes with the Aramith set. We are playing Texas Express rules. You don't have to call every ball. One exception, no ten balls on the break, which I happen to disagree with, particularly on these triple tough tables.

A few more players who are expected - SVB, Stevie Moore, Corey, Rafael, Manny Chau and Mike Dechaine. Some filipinos will be there but not all. Several of the European players said they did not know about the event, and made plane reservations to fly back after Vegas. All I can say is that they aren't checking online or in billiard publications. This event has been publicized since January, on AZ Billiards and the Seminole Tour website.

Jay, I heard HB is in for an extreme makeover, that the cloth is going to be burgundy and it's something noticeably slower than is on the tables now (860 now?). With those tight pockets and slow cloth it should be brutal.
