What type of business would it take to sponsor this sport, and if i owned that business, how would you answer my first 3 questions?

1) How do i get a return on my sponsorship investment beyond what i invest that would make it worth my while meaning, what's in it for my business that i can in return, make millions of dollars of profit, afterall, that's why I'm in business isn't it?

2) How would you turn this unorganized game of pool into a professional sport that my hard built business reputation could be proud of and glad to be involve

3) Who would be in charge of running this new venture for my investment dollars, and how would that work?

I'm going to add that my business would rather not be affiliated with legal drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or casinos as they do not support the image profile of my business.

You've been asking some hard questions lately, you've got too much time on yours hands while healing Glen.
Some good questions for all of us to think about.

PS: You should start writing your "Pool Table Mechanics Guide Book" while you are laid up so you can sell it after you retire.

Oh c'mon man. You mean you wouldn't want to be affiliated with the "Colorado Weed Growers/Name Your Indian Casino Classic"?

I could see how the man with the money would want to know these things...but...

Look at pro cycling. Estimates are that the usps spent $40m on sponsoring the team. Value is often intangible.

Unless you're the business taking the loss, maybe raising the cost of stamps paid for the sponsorship, because the usps has been taking a beating for years now complaining about lost revenues:thumbup: or maybe they ship 60mil a year in bicycles to buyers:eek:

You've done a great job of explaining the problem.

The solution? A mind far greater than mine is needed.

I'm going to further add that this bussiness possibly interested in complete sponsorship of this sport....has nothing to do with this industry, but is rather competing for sales revenues against other business in the same maketplace, so it's not interested in chalk, cues, pool tables, cloth, gloves or anything else sold in this industry to generate an income, this business operates outside of this industry.

plenty of businesses with sponsorship money to spend, but only if the number of viewers will give them the exposure they are looking for....

just not enough people (in the USA) watch pool on TV, or see the games live.......simple as that.

There is the answer and the question.

Winston Cup for example.
Bacardi sponsors racing.
Budweiser.
Casinos sponsor poker.

Etc.

The things associated with pool that some retract from seem to be pretty big in some other sports.

While many in pool want to distance the sport from the seedy old reputation, some other sports are still enveloped in it, and successful.

Hard to say what the solution might be, but many of the problems are clear.

Hard to say where it will end up.

This business is only interested in world wide viewersip and is not concerned with just the US viewers, as this business has world wide sales.

I would embrace and not run from pool's past. Pools is always going to deal with the "backroom gambling" thing so why worry about it. Hell, i know a lot of league players that WOULD NOT play if it weren't for the trip to Vegas which everyone knows is the home of "family entertainment". ;)

In 2003, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco dropped its sponsorship, and NASCAR negotiated a contract with Nextel, a telecommunications company. In 2004, the series became known as the Nextel Cup Series.

Casinos sponsor poker....only if it leads to bringing customers into the casinos, and they also sell advertising to recoup their sponsorship...LOL....so how much to they spend?....and how much do they make from the real advertiser's?
