Lets' talk about your League Operators. Are they hands on? attendant and available? easy to get a hold of and responsive? Fair? Visible at league matches and events occasionally? Nice people that you trust?
or are they mostly invisible bastards that don't care? are never available? unresponsive? people that you've never met and have only heard rumors that they actually exist and don't contribute to national qualifiers or prize funds? are they uninterested, unqualified people they only collect your money and nothing else? Do you think of them as the main reason that you would give up leagues all together?

Personally, after reading and hearing some of the stories from league players all around the country (and other countries) I think our LO here is a jewel. Attentive staff, available when needed otherwise silent but present, fair, generous, knowledgeable, not obnoxious or intrusive. I feel pretty fortunate to have the LO that we do. We haven't always seen eye to eye about things, but I've never felt cheated or talked down to. Our LO here has my respect and I've always felt like the feeling was mutual.

** I have no intention of trying to hijack this thread or anything like that. My thought is that who operates the league is paramount in how we're doing in league. They bear a huge responsibility as far as that. So please don't take this question that way.

I have met and know one of the League Operators. The NOLA APA is divided in two parts: The north side of the lake and the south side of the lake. We have two League Operators, but they both do their share (supposedly). They usually answer emails/texts/facebook messages in a timely manner, but some things that they do are questionable. I've come to the conclusion that the APA guidelines are more like suggestions to LO's. Every LO runs their division/divisions differently.

Played buzzed with a bar cue after the Vikings lost and played like a donk in 9 ball beating a 7 by about 10 balls (as an 8). I then played him in 8 ball and won 5-1...missed a 2 pack by 1 ball (last ball before the 8 leaving myself perfectly straight in on the 8) :(

I had to go to a friend's work to play him. Got the first rack, then just couldn't quite finish any of the rest and lost 1-5 in 5 innings. A little bit later, I played a good 7 in 9 and lost something like 65-55, I think. Had a couple of runouts, but, again, couldn't quite get everything working at once. Ah well..

Yeah those 1 inning or less on average matches can be brutal very little room for mistakes. I had that last week barely beating a 6 who was shooting like a 7 5-3 in 9 innings (2 safes). I think I missed 2-3 balls tops maybe and was lucky to survive.

Played on diamond boxes today. Couldn't get it going in 9 and lost 13-7 to a 7. In 8, I played a 7 and missed a tough bank the first rack then ran out. Broke open, he dogged the 8, I played safe then ran out. Bnr and bnr. Broke open, he hung a ball and I ran out. Now, if I can just figure out 9b.

Yeah, my buddy remembered this match - the last time we played, back in March. Decided he had enough of that.

Did what I was supposed to do last night, I beat an SL4, 4-1.

Didn't do enough to stop him from winning the one game that he won, so I didn't do well enough. That's not gonna happen every week, but this week, it should have.

I realize that I'm going to miss shots, and that I'm not gonna play perfectly. I simply missed too many shots that I shouldn't have. More work is needed.

Monday night 8 ball league race to 7. Won the first 3 games with 2 break and run outs. Feeling really loose thinking I might have a shutout then started missing balls (twice on the 8) and lost the next three games. Won the next 4. Comes and goes doesn't it.

Going to Olathe Friday to possibly play in the 9 ball or at least sweat the action. We shall see if league play has paid off or not (eek), gl to me!

Good luck!

I'm gonna go get some practice in and hope I can play in our match tonight.
Our team now has (3) SL6, (2) SL5, (2) SL4, & (1) SL3. So, who gets to play and when is a headache.

Just don't fill up the juke box with that technopop!

Well, that shouldnt be a problem. Even if somehow I wanted to, I dont think I could get a quarter in the machine past all the PBR drinking hipsters who have an obsession with trucker hats and Johnny Cash.

Frustrated with some of the lower handicappers on my team. We had to forfeit one of our five 9-ball matchups because three players (SL2, SL3 and SL4) did not show and the captain of the other team "knew" they'd be missing much of their team next week due to Thanksgiving.

Our team was in 1st place with a 24 pt lead, until that same team we played last night gave up 91 pts to the 2nd place team last week. So, not only did we lose 1st place because of the massive thumping they took last week, but since we couldn't do a make up match next week, I fear that we may end up substantially down after last night. Giving up 12 free points on the night in that manner is very disheartening.

On a side note, at least I won my individual match and should still be leading the top gun race by at least 6 or more points....

Played in the VNEA Rocky Mountain Singles "A" division 2 weeks ago. Went through the winner side undefeated only to lose 5-4, 5-1 in the finals. I beat the guy 5-2 the night before and had him down 3-0 the first set of the finals. Between me losing focus and him making some great kick shots I was done. Took 2nd and about $1k.

Earlier this year I went to NAPA nationals and played in the grandmaster division and got 9th.

Not having much luck as BCA nationals. 1 place out of the cash this year

Gave a game on the wire, and won 7-4.

Played this shot. What I'm most proud of is a guy accidentally bumped into me as I was down on the shot. I readjusted as I was down, but took the smarter route and got back up to collect myself.

NAPA lagger's choice last night.

I lost a 5-5 8-ball race 5-3. It was a good match except for the 8-ball I pocketed early in the second game. :embarrassed2:

Last night was also a nice realization that I've been improving: the guy I played used to have to spot me a couple games and now we play even.

I hate myself right now. The usual "I hate this game and myself" is in me as I struggle to find the mental strength to get me out of this hole. I went from a 4-0 record in my local 14.1 league giving up to 100 balls at times, not that i'm that good, I was just fortunate. To now 4-4.

My first loss didn't weigh as heavy on me as the last 3 although I was troubled by the 75 ball handicap which I felt was too much. My second loss was due to feeling sorry for the guy and how bad he was playing as I pushed to a 27- -2 lead. I played a shot because of it that I had no right to play and it cost me over 15 balls, 7 out the gate then another 14 to 20 before I made it to 30. This stayed with me for about 60 or so balls and by the time I came through it was too late the damage was done. I literally fell apart in the next one where I was getting balls for the first time, but in all fairness the guy flat out out played me in the second half of the match. My most recent again should of been a victory but between playing poorly and him getting the best of me on the rolls it would of taken something special to game that victory.

I for some reason "and time now" have lost the ability to Kill, I want to win but seems to be more concerned with playing well over winning. That day is the only day that I get to pick up the cue but can't seem to find the strength to mentally treat it like hill - hill and breaking at the USO.

P.S.
I'll wish myself luck this coming sunday, based no observation with this forum and some of it's members. Good luck to everyone else also in your upcoming matches.
