Factors
The two runs that far apart genuinely can't be compared. Grant a slight edge to Willie for table size. Then you have to factor in almost certainly poorer climate control if the place Willie was in even had any. While john used a better stick I don't think Willie was handicapped there as well as he knew his own stick.
Balls were a big difference. Almost certainly much higher humidity while Willie was making his run and the balls were certainly inferior. Name every characteristic that would define a ball's quality and the set john used would be better in every one I can think of. The balls weren't cleaned as often for Willie's run although I think it was mentioned he used his own balls and they were clean to start with.
Biggest difference, it was a one shot that session deal for Willie. Had he missed he wouldn't have tried again. After he filled his obligation all of this extra was purely a gift. While john didn't want to start over he did know if he missed without getting the record he would just start over.
One thing john did sometimes in other sessions, If he missed pretty early in a rack he would just start the new count from there without reracking. Best I recall this wasn't the first rack of the day. Did he start this run with a full rack and a break ball or did he start with the balls already broken from an earlier run? Pool players realize it only makes less than fifteen balls difference but record counters at somewhere like the Guinness people may see things differently. While it is called an exhibition run, it is also said most of the run took place before the hall opened. I can't see how something can be an exhibition with no spectators.
We shall see. john may come out smelling like a rose, he may come out smelling like a poopy diaper! Either way he is giving us plenty of entertainment for free admission.

Thanks, well what I'm looking for...
In 14:1, is it harder to run balls as the table size gets smaller or larger in his opinion?
I'll add a second question too. Do you think the table size gave him an advantage?
