The night I sponsored the party ora bull without horns is still a dangerous animal - 11-20-2019, 11:11 PM

His name was Sam and he was blck and hence we called him Black Sam

once he won $20,ooo from Don Furr the owner of Baby Dolls

He was feeling good and like so many people with one big score he couldn't
wait to play another stupid guy with a sport coat and a job so he spotted me
8 to 4 and the break
it wasn't long till i has transferred that money to my account, about 2 days

But what the heck ,a lot could happen in 2 days back them

Bob Dickerson andDick Weaver came to town a few days later and Sam had
a backer,so I through in with Dickerson and he made Sam look terrible

Its funny how bad you can look when you are up against stiff competition, the guy
just keeps leaving you at the end of your skill level and each shot comes with a heavy
penalty, finally Sam broke down and Dick,Bob ,and myself won big.

Bob went home to Indiana,Dick to Chicago and Sam got another stake horse so
I adjusted down from 8 to 4 and the break to 8 to 6 and the crack.

I couldn,t understand when the rail asked me for bets, after all Sam was playing
terrible, didn't they see what Dickerson did to him, So I covered $100,here $200
there,$35 beside the juke box and another $100 from larry Fisher the famous
tight wad pool detective. What did i care I had busted bigger places than this

Well now i was getting a spot ,I had the nuts, lets play, the crowd grew and cheered
like a prize fight crowd for Sam,Sam awoke from his lethargy and began
to leave me hooked or long and it was no short time later until I awoke finding
everyone in the house laughing and drinking and slapping Sam on the back

Sam came over to me and grinned, Dean you tough action most the time,
just not all the time.

The crowd latched on to this and began to mumble, then chant. Dean tough action
,Dean tough action.

I could help but laugh"Dean tough action?'

It was their night so I had to laugh
,Tommy Rey shook his head sideways

I was dry,not a cent remained from my previous fat bank roll

I said "is my credit still good?"

Tommy said "its good with me for $5000, Sam said"Its good with me
for $another $5000,but when Fisher extended me $500 credit
I came out of the either and said" I didn't have the nuts ,did i"

"not this time,Dean"

I went home
My wife fell down laughing saying something about my turn.

I told myself you have to feed the pigeons to keep them happy,
but I was having a hard time believing myself

A different party - 11-21-2019, 07:53 AM

When I saw "I sponsored the party" I thought you were talking about a different
party",a REAL DIFFERENT PARTY. Dean usually, well sometimes, well every
once in awhile comes with a good idea, but the time you rented R.D. Mathews lounge
for a fraternity party made Custer at the Little Big Horn look like a genius. For those
who are not familiar with R.D, Mathews, he was considered by the FBI to be one
of the dangerous men in the U.S. look him up. Renting his place for drunken
fraternity party was a great idea Dean. I can here you now "now everyone be careful,
because this guy can be kind of grumpy".

That was a great story! I especially liked the wife finding it funny. Had I got taken in like that it would not have been safe for me to sleep in the same room as my wife for a week or two.

It wasn't RD Matthews lounge
He had Vic Iana provide us with his down town restaurant

Iani's on akard in downtown Dallas,we hired bubbles cash and some name brand band on New Years eve

it was according to the fire Marshall a legal capacity of 300 and we had a few hundred more when he made his unforeseen appearance

I introduced him to bubbles and gave him a bottle of champaign and told him we just needed 5 hours could he come back

Mr Matthews handles complaints for Mr Iani's business

Iani was busted in the Appalachia mafia shindig up north

ALPHADOG
I didn't realize you used the statement,I have been reading African Safari books and saw the line in reference to water buffalo
I love the stories involving danger and excitement

the marshall said "RD Matthews?"

I said yes sir

He said ,it really was pretty close and it would be a shame to ruin a party

I am amazed that Jack remembers every little bump in the road I hit along the way

For a guy that doesn't recognize a shortstop from a right fielder he has a great memory

But what the heck I got removed from the game for hitting the 3rd baseman in the tummy with a line drive. Those friends of yours were afraid that I might be recognized as a ringer

Who is afraid of RD anyway

book - 11-22-2019, 10:25 PM

Dean,

Can't send you a rep note, they say it is too soon. For the unintentionally funniest safari book I ever read, find the original "Maneaters of Tsalvo". The movie The ghost and the darkness was based on it then they put out a new addition without the frills and extras, a much lesser book. I had tears running down my face I was laughing so hard at the original book.
