I get all the Breaks

So I first heard about the REVO last year and being a long time Predator user and supporter I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. It first began with me trying to justify buying a whole new cue just to be able to get my hands on the shaft, almost pulled the trigger a few times but never did.

Then in March came the release of the Shaft alone, then came the agonizing debate of trying to wait for the release of the Radial or just purchase the Uni-Loc and have it converted. Then came the issue of the fact that they then released the 12.4, now while all this was going on I had the opportunity to hit a few balls with the 12.9 but I didn't get the chance to really play with it so I never really new if I had enough input to make a comfortable decision.

Then there was the issue of all the negative responses and reactions on AZB to really make the decision harder well, I'm going to put it all to rest. The shaft is worth the money. I've played with every shaft that Predator has put out with the exception of the VANTAGE & the 314 FAT. Some people actually said that the 12.4 didn't play as well as the 12.9, I find that very hard to believe, the 12.4 plays phenomenally.

The hit is more solid than the 314 or Z in any of the Model Configurations, the 12.4 plays like the Z with the comfort of a larger shaft with less deflection any shaft I've ever hit with.

I would say to anyone stop the bashing and simply buy what you prefer, but don't stop someone from buying or trying something based on negative gossip by people that haven't even had the opportunity try it and make a decision on their own.

I'm with you Black Cat! I have both Revo shafts, and love them both.
Currently the 12.4 is my preferred shaft. I also just received the new Revo break shaft, so I'm trying that out too! IMO Revo is a great shaft!

If it hits anything like the Z, then I really do not understand why any player would like it. The Z shaft was the most horrible shaft that I have ever tried to play with in my life. I could not make a ball with it. If you like a conical taper, and you like a shaft that has zero flex to it (as if playing with a shaft with a steel tube in the center of it, seemingly), then yeah, I can understand why you would like the Z shaft. Too bad that Predator has not changed, and gone back to making a shaft with the feel and hit of the original 314 pre cat shaft. That was an awesome hitting shaft in my opinion. I will never understand why players love a zero flex shaft so much. Maybe it is mostly just the conical taper that I hate, because I did really enjoy playing with the Lucasi Hybrid shaft. I put that shaft about even with the enjoyment that I got out of playing with the original pre cat Predator shaft.

Scott, what is the diameter of the revo break shaft?

Also to the OP. When the revo was 1st released I was intrigued as well, but was using solid maple shafts at the time. I was lucky enough to have Scott Lee around my area because he was giving lessons in my local poolroom but staying at a friend's house that was in my league. So I got to shoot with Scott's 12.9mm during my match that night but I was shooting terrible & didn't shoot much better with his Revo.

So I decided it wasn't for me especially since I'm not a fan of the thick 12.9mm or anything near it. I preferred 12.5mm or lower down to 11.65mm which I didn't know about yet at that time.

A few months later I was at league & didn't bring any cues with me as my back & foot were killing me but my captain asked me to shoot that night because we really needed a win. As I was scrambling to figure out who's cue to borrow a buddy of mine had a brand new BMC Casino 6 Joker with him & a pro shaft. I asked him if I could use it in league that night because I didn't have anything with me & all he has done for the 3 years I've known him was preach to me how awesome Meucci's were but I always made fun of him telling him how much junk they were.

Anyhow, he told me if I used it, I would have to buy it because it was unhit & he then couldn't sell it as new. I said screw it & took it because I like the design especially with the jokers on it because I've loved cards my whole life & the jokers were different. I ended up shooting lights out with it that night even though the ld pro shaft was new to me. Later that night I took one of our other buddies ultimate weapon shafts & tried it on my new cue & realized it was the nuts too & the 11.65mm shaft felt awesome as well. So I ordered one for my new BMC to go with the pro shaft.

After that predator released the new 12.4mm Revo shaft & thought I might have to give it another go as I like the thickness a whole lot better but upon reading all the negativity about it here on AZB much like yourself I said screw it & let me grab one before I bashed it like everyone else.

Bought the SP2REVO2 and took all the weight out & got the 12.4mm one & it ended up weighing 17.5ozs. Started shooting great with it, felt comfortable & was making some shots I couldn't believe. Best decision I have ever made.

Since all of this, I now have Two Revo 12.4 shafts. One to shoot with & now using the SP2REVO3 butt with it & the original victory soft tip. On tbs 2nd shaft I bought it with the sport 2 black butt with the sports grip & had a Samsara b/j Tip installed on it for the sole purpose of breaking. Another great decision as it's improved my break.

And I'll never understand how people like you can't understand that we all like not only different styles of cues but different hits in cues. there has been predator shafts I didn't like and some I do. That does not make you wrong for not liking it or me wrong for liking it. It just makes us different.

I will say I almost stopped playing with my revo. After months of play it still felt inconsistent to me. Then something great happened. My cue slipped out of my hand ..hit the floor and the predator victory tip flew off. I played with my 314/2 shaft for a few days and realized it was the terrible tip I didn't like . I had a ultra skin pro super soft put on and now it's perfect to me. With that predator tip on I felt I could hit the same shot the same way 10 times and get 10 completly different results.

The few guys that I had seen playing with the Revo are no longer using it. Don't know why, didn't ask. Just an observation.
