90s Era Tim Scruggs’ Tips

Hi Everyone,

I’m trying to figure out what tips Tim Scruggs used to use on his cues back in the 90s. I had my first Scruggs built in 1991, and when it came to tips, it was either a standard or (I swear he said) “synthetic”. Don’t think he used the term “laminate”. I went back to his shop years later for new tips and ask for those same “synthetic” tips.

Fast forward - I love those tips and haven’t found anything like them. I’m sure they don’t exist anymore, and with all the many different tips or there, it makes it hard (and time and cost consuming) to find a substitute.

So, does anyone know what those tips might have been in the 90s coming from Tim’s shop that weren’t the standard (assuming those were LePro)? They’re black, not brown. And, is there anything remotely like them around today that Cuemakers are still using?

Thanks in advance for any insight and helpful suggestions...

They were most likely called future tips and are no longer made.
