I am thinking about buying this cue. Is it a good reflection of your typical Mezz cue? People have said Mezz might be one of the top production cues out there nowadays, along with Schon.

Will this cue give me a good idea of how Mezz Cues play? Or should i be looking elsewhere?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. And for those that always do this - go ahead and make your smart-aleck comments.

Super cues imo. Best QC of any co. out there. Love mine. They make quite a few different shafts to choose from. This particular cue is a ZZ-series and they are discontinued. They aren't cheap but they are flawlessly made.

A lot of people say that Mezz is the best made production cue.
I have never seen one close up.
But I think they are expensive and their designs are boring.
But to each his own.

I know you like Lucasi's and they are nice but some of their designs are horrid looking imo. Just not real big on Chinese anything right now.

Yeah some of the Lucasi designs are bad but every cue manufacturer(think Viking) has some dogs.
Chinese food is great right?

Wouldn't eat Chinese food if it was free. Used to date a chick that did Health Dept. inspections. A few of her horror stories broke me from eatin' that crap.

Chad Carter in Owensboro is making me a cue similar to what is discussed in the thread that you pasted. Should have it by the end of the year.

But in the meantime, i am thinking i need to try a Mezz to see what all the fuss is about.

I almost bought the cue you are thinking about buying but I ended up buying the; EC7-W6 last month. Absolutely gorgeous cue, imho. The Wenge wood is gorgeous. It hits as good as any cue I've ever hit with. One issue is that the linen wrap is too slick, but it is getting better. I've only played with it three times since I got it though. I was a little shocked though, at the flimsy packaging they sent it in.

I have a serious jones for a EC 9. Either in Rosewood or Blackwood, I can't decide. I like plain. Why would there be smart aleck remarks over a Mezz? Seems like a real good choice right now. I will not spend anymore money on a China product when it can be avoided.

You should look around on the mezz USA site, it's likely you can get a cue with the HP 2 or expro shaft for for the less than the BW cue.

Mezz Cues are made in Japan, not China!

I think garczar was referring to the fact that Lucasi is made in China.

I've also been curious about newer cues and technology. I just bought a Mezz cue with a WX700 shaft. It should arrive today. I will provide some feedback on it soon.

While I do agree that most of the designs are very traditional, I bought the ZZ32, which has points that reminds me of a fox's tail. The butt sleeve is also a bit more interesting than others. I figured I'd give it a test drive and I can always return within 60 days if I don't find it that interesting.

My main player for quite some time has been a Schon + predator 314 (cat) / triangle tip.

I bought a Jacoby EH Ultra and it hits well. A bit fuller hit than my 314. Longer taper. It feels like it's 12.75 for about 20". Good vibration and feedback. Pretty good spin. Tip is stock (Everest) and hasn't mushroomed or glazed yet. It's probably too thick for my liking, but I haven't gotten around to grinding it down a few mm. I'm not as consistent with it yet, so it stays in the bag most of the time. Sometimes when I was 2' of draw I get 4', other times I get 3". It's annoying. I have much better control with the 314.

I also bought a Predator that came with a 314-3 and a Vantage, to see how those hit. I've been pretty satisfied with the action and cue ball control on my existing setup, but my gear is admittedly quite old.

Sorry for the long post.

I can't recommend Mezz cues enough! Simply the best cues out there in my humble opinion!
