Its pre-DiamondSeries. My buddy has a '69 that has these rings(3rd pi down):http://www.billiardsforum.com/pool-cue-value/value-of-a-1968-69-joss-pool-cue. The OP's cue is probably between '72 and '80. Worth way more than $400.This may help. And those with that logo were the best players IMO. And ditto garczar. Prolly $400 minimum, depending on condition! ~ https://josscues.com/photo-gallery/cue-archives/joss-diamond-series/ ~ https://josscues.com/photo-gallery/cue-archives/joss-diamond-series/
Yeah right. This is a sharp-point 4pt JOSS from the early-to-mid '70's. You see very few with these joint rings. From 68-72 they looked like these:https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/joss-cue-stick-1968-72-block-letter-66686409(3rd pic) By '80 they were just dashes so this cue most likely was made between 72 and 80. Cue also has the brown bumper which was used prior to about '80.Internet search $250.00.

My ‘68 Joss has the brown bumper.
Is it 18 thread or 14 thread?.....Joss went to 14 thread in the early ‘70s.
Very good point, mine was an 18 also
I had a ‘71 Joss with three shafts...it was still 18 thread...wish I still had it...
...but a six point Black Boar was too hard to turn down in an even up trade.
Weren't Bill and Dan still partners then? IIRC Bill left to start JW in '72.Early Joss cue made prior to 1972. That is Bill Stroud’s JOSS logo. Nice old cue.
