I have played straight pool for the last 50 years but recently
started playing 8 ball with a couple of guys. Bought Phil Cappelle's book
PLAY YOUR BEST 8 BALL. Did not realize it was so long.
Any of you read it and is it worth the effort. I have zero skills in 8
ball but frequently run in the 30's in straight pool

Been playing 14.1 for the last 50 years and never ventured into 8? :scratchhead:

Something is fishy. Is this you Phil? :wave3:

I don’t think you need to read the book front to back. The book is a great resource and will provide answers and advice on all aspects of 8ball. If you were a straight pool player the transition to 8 ball will be easy, you only need to run 8 balls.

I think it's a great book. And like someone else has already said, you don't need to read straight through all of it. Plenty of solid advice and little nuggets scattered throughout the book.

I'm about a hundred pages into it and I don't regret my purchase at all. Well worth the money. It's very comprehensive.

I've read it several times over the yesrs. Excellent strategy guide. Lots of great tips throughout. Capelle's books are all great.
