This is not necessarily a 'tournament' but getting master of the table at Derby City is what I would consider prestigious.

If we're talking all of cue sports I'd say the following.

1. World Snooker Championship
2. World 9 Ball Championship
3. US Open 9 Ball
4. Other world pool championships (too infrequently held to be higher on the list)
5. Derby City Master of The Table

US Open
World championship 9 ball
World championship 14.1
Mosconi Cup
I like the last poster's "master of the table"

People can argue that the US Open isn't the same difficulty of a world championship. I'm not here to debate that. What I can say is that I grew up watching accustats tapes of Varner, Archer, Strickland, Sigel, Hall, Davenport, Mizerak, nad so many more. I used to hang on every shot, replay them a million times until I knew them front and back. For this reason if I were to peak out and win a tournament I would pick this tournament over any other.

As for 14.1, well, it is a huge part of our history. Greenleaf and Mosconi were awesome figures. To hold the same title they once held would be surreal.

World snooker championship
World nine-ball championship
World three cushion championship
US Open nine-ball
DCC Master of the table

Up until the late nineties, I felt the US Open was far harder to win than the World nine-ball.

Of all the replies, this one is the closest one I agree with.
The only one I would take out is #3, Mosconi Cup. You're kidding, right?

I would insert the World 3-cushion Championships and adjust as follows:

1. World Snooker
2. World 3-Cushion
3. Masters Snooker
4. World 9-ball
5. Derby City

Any person who wins ONE of these is pretty damn good.
Any person who wins TWO of these is legendary.
I don't think anyone has won three of these. Probably an absolute impossibility in IMO.

I think we can all pack up, because this is it.

I agree. As soon as I saw the title of the post, I immediately knew the Mosconi Cup would never by on my list.

1/2 the world (or more) is excluded from the Mosconi Cup, so it surely wouldn't make my list. If I was a professional and could qualify, it surely would be.

I kid you not Boogeyman!
The reason why I included the Mosconi Cup is because of its qualifying merits.
A player can take down DCC and yet, still not qualify for the Mosconi Cup. Plus there is great pressure on the players to compete well for their respective continents.

I thought about 3 cushion as these guys are seriously talented! But IMO the pressure is less in the 3 cushion arena.

I made sure not to look at other posts before writing this. I am going to deal only with pool, because I am pretty ignorant to the world of snooker and billiards. But here is my take on it:

1) World Pool Championship 9 ball
2) US Open
3) Derby City Master of the Table
4) China Open
5) World 10 ball

Now, is there even still a world 10 ball?

Also, I gave some weight to history. This is what *I* think, not necessarily what I think the world thinks.

Edit: Wow...I just scanned through the thread. I thought I was being clever thinking of the DCC Master of the Table. Surprised how many others thought the same. Also, I totally forgot about the World Pool Masters. That should be on there.

I'll leave snooker out as the particaption leaves out so many of the pool World greats
That don't play the game
In today's world I would go

World 9 ball
World 10 ball
World 8 ball
Chinese 8 ball
US open 9 ball
