There is a weekly handicapped nine ball tournament at Chalkies, just East of Allisonville Rd. on 82nd St. (not that close to downtown, but most of the better players play in it, occasionally Jeanette Lee and Neslie O'Hare). Doors open at 12:30, play at 1 P.M., $10 entry + $4 green fee. One Sunday a month they have a bigger tournament with $30 entry fee. They play on 8 foot Diamond tables, no smoking inside, double elimination. Nice tables, gourmet food, lots of top flight players. If you're from out of town, you will probably be a 7 handicap (near the best) if no one knows your speed. They have 8 really nice 9 foot Diamonds, but they play the tournament on the 8 footers (stupid, but go figure).
