when aiming for cut shots...especially back cuts along the short rail. Here's a shot we all face in 9-ball...over running position and winding up with this:
I like to visualize an imaginary rail to help me see how much to cut the ball. In the drawing I use a cue to show this, but in my mind I pretend it is a rail.
I don't know if anyone else does this, but it really helps me to make some of the cuts that I'm not comfortable with. I don't do it all the time, but I almost always try to visualize this particular shot in that way.
