Dave's Clearcoat Finish

Hello Kirby.. :)
You, Martin, and, Ricky W. all know and love Dave's Joint Rings.
If you are a cuemaker, you, too, gotta love Dave's Rings..

We all, too, love and, " Respect the time and effort" it takes to accomplish what Dave seems to do on a daily bases..
Accuracy and precision both come into play.

"Dave Barenburgge - The Lord of the Rings"
( Ricky Wong 1st. mention this a while back :) )

Did you all know, Dave also does a 1st. Class Clear Coat Finish?

A long time ago, I was very fortunate to have Dave personally send me his Clearcoat Process.
It starts :

BARENBRUGGE CLEAR COAT TECHNIQUES
by Dave Barenburgge

" Finishing is one of the most intense parts in my mind.
But, it is the icing on the cake, the sparkle in the Diamond,
the sizzle on the Steak.....well, you get the picture..

I've seen some very nicely executed designs in cues, and then,
when they are held up in the light, one could surf down the waves in the finish!
The finish, in my opinion, can make or break any piece no matter what it is.. "

Slotted Rings

Dave and I was talking about Joint Rings.
There is one factor that many cue enthusiast might not be aware of, that causes a havoc when trying to maintain critical dimentions on Joint Rings.

"The Slotted Ring Metamorphosis"

" I obviously build the billets over size diameter but as they get cut turned down,
the black in between the slots gradually grow smaller changing how they can look from start to finish.
Subtle maybe but to me huge
Too wide or too narrow and it doesn't turn out looking good to my eye.
- " Dave "Lord of the Rings" Barenburgge

Note: Sample Photo of Slotted Ring is from the Internet. Not Daves.

Even though in most objects we look at the finishes first especially in cars and cues but in his my eyes always go immediately to his rings, Always mind boggling.
