Archer rules with six wins at the Stone....
...but Shaw is the king of the Stone...
...five wins with a lot less starts.

agree, Shaw has done well with fewer showings but I like the fact that Archer has back to back the event more times than anyone has back to back any event (not sure how Ralf did at the worlds) and that's just stronger in my book. Being able to lose the title, win it back then defend that win the next year. Imagine that in boxing.

I remember being there for most of these.

Remember the Dechaine win, sitting next to his dad by chance.

Hatch in the finals with everyone there pulling for him with home field advantage.

Karen Corr playing amazing and making the finals.

This will be another great event. If you can be there in person, it's simply the best spectator venue possible.

Question : will this thing be played or will NY state covid patrol shut it down? Such a great event but the way things are going lately i wouldn't be surprised if it and maybe even DCC don't get played. Hope i'm wrong on all counts. Thanx

With Shaw's win from the one-loss side at TS XXXIV, here's an update to the counts of winners who were undefeated versus those who came from the one-loss side:

15 undefeated (events, without the Roman numerals, # 2, 5, 6, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 24, 26, 27, 29, 30, and 33)

The average score in the final matches is now 13 - 7.2.

And, still, no final match has ended at 13-0, 13-1, or 13-12.

That's pretty interesting since 13-12 should be one of the more common results (if not the single most common result?) between two evenly matched players.

Well, 13-11 leads the pack with 8 occurrences; that's pretty close to even. But 13-7 is next with 6 occurrences.

XXVI, Aug. 2016 -- J. Shaw d. K. Corr 13-5
I'm guessing that this is the highest finish for a woman at the TS.
I have not been watching for more than a couple years and I don't remember a woman ever getting to the top 8.
Karen Corr must play pretty darn sporty for that high of a finish in a tournament with so many top players.

Yes, Corr's 2nd-place finish in TSXXVI was the only time a woman has reached the finals at Turning Stone. She lost to Shaw in both the hotseat match and the finals. Three of Karen's wins were over Maksim Dudanets, Donny Mills, and Earl Strickland (in the semifinal match).
