Neiman Marcus

I was thinking about that Neiman Marcus Ruby Josswest.
Does anyone remember Bill Stroud's Ivory Handle Cue with the Rubies in a
Rob Report Magazine??
That cue was for sale at Neiman Marcus, if I remember correctly..
Will, do you remember that article about Bill's Ruby Cue? :)

Alton,
I remember pictures of his 8-point cue loaded with red star sapphires, a beautiful cue, held it more than once.
I also saw it in a magazine, likely have it in my files. I will look.

This is part of the Joss Cues West brochure from 1973 right after Bill opened the shop in Colorado Springs, CO. I bought a number 6 with ivory joint from Bill in 1974.

Will, I'm sure you have the Smithsonian magazine. I sent it to you after we talked at the Santa Fe show.

Hi Jerry,
Good to hear from you!
Yes, I still have the Smithsonian mag, in fact I own two
of the cues pictured.
Thanks again!

Got it, magazine was July 1996.

Bill made the cue I have pictured above with the coral cabochons, ebony, ivory and turquoise at the same
time he made the rubies/diamonds/gold Sultan cue.

Did Bill ever say how many cues he built? I seem to see a lot more of the older 70's Era logo for sale. I would assume he made less later in his career because the artistry was so high and detailed. I also wonder if he did his own cabischons.

Definition of cabochon

: a gem or bead cut in convex form and highly polished but not faceted
also : this style of cutting

This cue was bought in 1974 and of course made in Colorado Springs. It is number 6 in the brochure and described as Ebony veneer, large inlays. It listed for $285. I added a couple of options, the ivory joint, ivory ferrules, and extra length. This cue is 60 inches long. I bought a couple of extra shafts over the years and the butt was re-wrapped by Bill at least two times. Like its owner, this cue is high mileage. When I was in the shop and Bill would hit a ball with this cue, he would smile from ear to ear.

Sorry you are gone....

Bill's Best?

Hello Forum/Guys.. :)
The Sultan Cue..
Thanks for posting.
I knew it had a name something like that..
I kept thinking the "King of Persia" theme, but,
I knew it had a different name from The Meucci Jim Rempe Tribute. :frown:

Here is, what I thought was one of Bill's best works.
I saw this Josswest in the STAN HAYNES Collection,at the 2012 SBE.
In hand, it is one magnificent piece of art.
Jamie was selling this cue.
Thanks for viewing..

Alton :)

Thanks for posting Jamie :)

A Few More Josswest Cues

Here are some pictures of a few more Josswest cues in my collection.
All are Josswest cues except the second cue from the left, a McDaniel Kling cue.
I will post some more pictures of additional cues later.
