Tiger Stripe Grain Patterns. Is usually when they take the log an turn it 90° so the Saw Blade is Cutting Perpendicular or Against the Grain. Instead of trying to Cut with the Grain.

Like Quarter Sawn-Oak for Furniture. Or Tiger Oak

you know, I was actually curious about how to determine the differences, but that makes sense. I like it. But I just put tiger because thats what Dave puts on his website description.

Alot of the time, Quarter-sawn oak or whatever species of wood the Clientele or Work Order Required the most popular pieces like A Tall Corner Hutch or Nightstand or Table whatever the piece maybe. It is usually only cut for boards wider than a 6" Board. So, people can see the beautiful markings of the wood being cut an its 100% unique grain pattern.

So, ideally you generally want bigger piecer of Furniture to Showoff that
Quarter-Sawn Look..

Whoops, I made a mistake. The Log chosen for this should be on a 45° angle instead of letting the blade cutt with grain.
